I know this is a long shot, but nothing ventured, nothing gained and maybe the fediverse can help.

🇬🇧My oldest son (19) is moving to Eindhoven to study design at the Design Academy Eindhoven. He's looking for a room to rent, which is proving very difficult. Is there anyone in the fediverse who can help him with a room either in Eindhoven or nearby? He doesn't mind commuting.

🇳🇱Mijn oudste zoon (19) gaat design studeren aan de Design Academy in Eindhoven. Hij is op zoek naar een kamer, wat erg moeilijk blijkt te zijn. Is er iemand in de fediverse die hem aan een kamer kan helpen in Eindhoven of omgeving? Hij vindt het niet erg om te reizen.

@Chrissy hmm, sorry, heb weliswaar in Eindhoven gestudeerd, maar dat is een eeuwigheid geleden. Heb daar niet werkelijk contacten die zouden kunnen helpen. Succes! Is inderdaad op het moment een drama.

@Chrissy Hi, it’s almost twenty years ago that I graduated from the Design Academy 😅 but what I remember a lot of students where renting a room in the small towns around Eindhoven.

Best way for him is to visit Eindhoven a soon as possible go around town and try to speak a lot of people.

@Chrissy good luck to your son. I lived nearby Eindhoven (Oirschot) for 2 years, it was very difficult to find a place to live. Has he tried facebook groups?

@Chrissy I can offer a mediocre temporary solution in Kaatsheuvel (close to Tilburg). I also know a few folks in Eindhoven, but way more folks are looking for houses, so don't get the hopes up too high.

@Chrissy Sorry - late on this but my daughter (lives in Utrecht, studied design, knows Eindhoven well) says:

" look in Tilburg or den bos - both are real commuter cities which have folks coming and and out of eindhoven to.

Kamnernet daily - and early, like check and 8am - is a good way to go. Get someone who’s done it before to help write your intro message and send it out wildly!

@JimmyB Thanks, that's very helpful. While we don't live in the Netherlands we do have family there who can check out the rooms. And my son will move to the Netherlands soon so he can view the rooms in person too.
