DB SchweinAgree wholeheartedly. Yes a scary thing can happen on the subway. No the subway is not a scary thing (or the L, or the Metro, or BART, or, or, or).
Mass transit is fabulous and people trying to drive you away from it are not doing so for the public good.

Its been a few years but I thought the NYC subway was just fine. Just people going to and from. I thought Manhatten was a delight, the other boroughs I went through were just neighborhoods, nothing glitzy but just regular places, if a bit more vibrant.
