Funny how anti-regulation #MAGA types love the Bald Eagle.

It nearly went extinct—saved by banning DDT, the Endangered Species Act, and habitat protection. All government action.

By 1963, only 417 nesting pairs were left. By 2007, over 10,000. Nixon signed those protections. Even he cared more than today's GOP. So when a MAGA fan flaunts an eagle, remind them: “Woke” liberals and federal regs saved that bird. Not them.

@codemonkeymike Last time I yelled at politicians about saving the Endangered Species Act from having the definition of "harm" removed (yes, really), thus totally defanging it from defending species from anything but deliberate poaching, this was exactly my example.

But don't ya know that if their bird is endangered, then they have an additional reason to like it - because feeling persecuted and wronged is how they live their lives.
