@_elena I have already shared the English version with the Italian critical mass community (#ciemmona). As they raised concerns last week about the toxicity of surveillance based social networks. I would happily do it again for the Italian version! Great work thanks!

(it's kind of ironic how it's my native language but I ended up doing English and French first) 😅

@_elena the French version arrives with the right timing for the #velorutionuniverselle2025 in Paris in two weeks (a little sister of the famous #ciemmona), but in France strong parts of the cycling community already embraced the fediverse. Your video is a great tool, it shares joy of conquering new spaces and rights together. The kind of joy we cherish in the #criticalmass movement!

we had to cut out a bunch of things during production because there were some truly unfilmable scenes… like the line: “the fediverse genuinely connects people, like the original promise of the internet used to be.” I LOVED the concept but didn’t know which visuals could accompany such a lofty statement 🥲

I just did it in my friends group on Signal, with the French version as we are francophones. And the vidéo is on Elena's YouTube channel. @_elena The video is excellent. However, I believe you may be underestimating the true age of the Fediverse. It’s important to recall that, prior to the ActivityPub protocol, OStatus was the standard—giving rise to platforms such as GNU Social. Evan Prodromou was also active during this period with identi.ca , running on StatusNET, and then notably with Pump.io, which relied on ActivityStreams rather than ActivityPub. Furthermore, the initial versions of Mastodon were built on OStatus; the migration to ActivityPub occurred later.

I would suggest adding another four or five years to the Fediverse’s age, due of this.

@_elena If you would like, I could help reviewing your audio tracks for accessibility before you publish them.

Unfortunately, I noticed small issues that makes it harder than necessary to hear every words.

In particular, you tend to lower your voice on the last words of sentences, so it's harder to understand.

But, again, globally, it's amazing work! Very approachable! ❤️

Another small thing: The frightening music in the mid section is quite loud compared to your voice and the happy music. It sounds a bit exaggerated. I think it should be ominous and subtle; less "in your face".

@_elena Actually, now that I listened to both the english and french version side by side, I notice the that French audio is much lower volume than the English one. You might want to check that :)
