Days?? They'll find glitter in their underwear 5 YEARS from now!

Also, please tell me this is true.

EDIT: a lot of people rejecting this because glitter is not eco-friendly, so I'm adding a link to biodegradable glitter. I'm sure other companies make such a thing.

ht: @PhoenixSerenity !! Also see her comments on this thread, she's done this before & has great ideas!

Edit2: also, feed your fucking mental health and just laugh without analysis once in awhile!

@juliewebgirl please use biodegradable glitter. We don't need more micro plastic
@MBEverding @juliewebgirl if they win, everybody concerned about microplastic will rot in Salvadorian prisons.
@torf @juliewebgirl not really. I will be safe from ice in Germany but from the micro plastic washed in the ocean getting eaten by the fish I eat I am not. Trump being this way is kind of a predictable shit show majority of Americans voted for (just like brexit). It's difficult to find sympathy for a hell Americans actively voted for but at least don't drag our ocean in with this.
@MBEverding @juliewebgirl I wonder if people protesting against ICE and people voted for Trump are the same folks, oder?

@torf @juliewebgirl well they not. but I am sure you can use biodegradable glitter protesting. But since it's a democratic elected leader voted by majority out of stupidity, doesn't mean a minority is entitled to make everyone in the world suffer from it and act unhinged. If you feel personally threatened by ice you are welcome to apply as refugee in my country.

Germany also had a lot of protests against Merz and now he is our democratic elect leader we kind of have to suck it up for 4 years.

@MBEverding @juliewebgirl First of all, should I remind you a percentage of AfD electoral result in our beautiful country, where I technically can't be a refugee due to some personal peculiarities (thanks for the invitation, anyway)? Should I also remind how much environmental damage is generated during military actions on the battlefields, which are not so far away from EU now and do have very high probability to come much closer?

I mean, I would be happy if US protesters could protest their protests in an environmentally friendly way, but I would hesitate to ask them to politely surrender because of failure to maintain low environmental impact of their efforts to protect themselves.

@torf @juliewebgirl AFD and Trumpist republicans are very similar, yet you have 51% of them in USA and until now so far only 24% in Germany. Little Germany takes in 10 times as much refugees a year than the maximum imposed on USA. Hate speech against minorities count here not as free speech and are illegal (if that is what you mean with personal percularities). Yes we have Merz currently breaking EU law but we still have functioning courts that are protected now under constitution.

@MBEverding @torf @juliewebgirl
That's not how democracy works. Far less than 50% voted for Trump fascists, but even fewer voted for "fascism but not those fascists".

Unfortunately there was no option for no fascism.

That trick is a little harder in Europe, but count on them trying anyway.

@leeloo @torf @juliewebgirl https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2024_United_States_presidential_election trump 49.8% Harris 48.3%. unlike the free demo version 2016, trump won in the premium version, despite project 2025 preview, fair and square and all voters had a preview what chaos would come.
Yes your election system (unlike MMP voting system in Germany and Scandinavian countries for example) makes it favorable for a 2 party system but not voting is just stupid and allows fascism.

Call me un-american, but we won't invade and "liberate" you.

2024 United States presidential election - Wikipedia

@MBEverding How do you stop fascism by voting for one of two viable parties, both of which are fascist?

Also I am doubtful that 49.8% is a percentage of the total population. Just like Brexit had only about 27% of the vote, I think? in the UK when you include all non-voters including those underage or otherwise not registered. "The country" did not vote for that.

@i_cannot_today @MBEverding you vote in more than just the general election. You vote in the primaries too, so you control who is running. @benroyce
@johnstonphilip The post I was replying to was about voting in the main election. The General Election, or whatever it's called over there.
@i_cannot_today I’m just saying to whoever listens, stopping fascism happens by getting more involved in democracy, not less. Instead of not voting because both parties suck, get involved at the party formation level to shape the party into something you’d vote for. Vote in primaries, etc.
@johnstonphilip @i_cannot_today Not voting is exactly how we got here. All it does is hand power over to malignant forces. But they get to say they're an anarchist, I guess.

@kevin @johnstonphilip @i_cannot_today

they won't get to call themselves anarchists when the party in power decides to machine gun anarchists

and how that party got in power is because the anarchists didn't vote

it's straightforward

some people care more about their self-regard and feeling edgy than moving their country in a good direction

but they want perfection

they're immature

@benroyce @kevin @johnstonphilip @i_cannot_today My human couchlord is an anarchist, as am I. They voted for Harris and other Democrats. I'm not allowed to vote in the human elections, but I voted mostly United Miners over Elderwoods, not because they're perfect, but because they're more left. You vote for the best option that is available. It's when you act outside the voting booth that you uphold your own principles. Because no one tells you you can only do one of two things.

@log @kevin @johnstonphilip @i_cannot_today

to me not voting speaks of insecurity

i go in the voting booth and i choose the dems even though the dems suck, because it's strategy in the larger game, and not the only thing i'm doing. move in a good direction and iterate

but someone who is insecure feels their vote identifies them. so they only allow themselves perfect moves, everything has to be like a romance movie. because they have a fragile sense of self-regard. immaturity essentially

@benroyce @kevin @johnstonphilip @i_cannot_today I recall people pouting that lower lip out super far saying Harris supports Palestinian genocide. Well, it turns out the choice was probably slow Palestinian genocide versus fast Palestinian genocide plus war between Israel and Iran, Syria, and Lebanon all at once, with attacks on humanitarian aid missions completely ignored. So the nonvote identifies you as someone who can't even solve a trolley problem.

@log @kevin @johnstonphilip @i_cannot_today

nonvoters like hannah arendt's quote

“those who choose the lesser evil forget quickly that they chose evil”

problems being:

1. every political contest that ever existed and ever will exist can be framed as choosing the lesser evil. they miss her context

2. hannah arendt, who fought fascism, would probably smack them: "no, you airhead fucks, you need to vote to prevent fascism here." although that might not be her exact choice of words

@benroyce @log @kevin @johnstonphilip @i_cannot_today

> that might not be her exact choice of words

Oh no, I'm quite certain that I heard her utter those precise words. 😉
