Germany also had a lot of protests against Merz and now he is our democratic elect leader we kind of have to suck it up for 4 years.

Should I also remind how much environmental damage is generated during military actions on the battlefields, which are not so far away from EU now and do have very high probability to come much closer?

I mean, I would be happy if US protesters could protest their protests in an environmentally friendly way, but I would hesitate to ask them to politely surrender because of failure to maintain low environmental impact of their efforts to protect themselves.

That's not how democracy works. Far less than 50% voted for Trump fascists, but even fewer voted for "fascism but not those fascists".

Unfortunately there was no option for no fascism.

That trick is a little harder in Europe, but count on them trying anyway.

Yes your election system (unlike MMP voting system in Germany and Scandinavian countries for example) makes it favorable for a 2 party system but not voting is just stupid and allows fascism.

Also I am doubtful that 49.8% is a percentage of the total population. Just like Brexit had only about 27% of the vote, I think? in the UK when you include all non-voters including those underage or otherwise not registered. "The country" did not vote for that.

to me not voting speaks of insecurity

i go in the voting booth and i choose the dems even though the dems suck, because it's strategy in the larger game, and not the only thing i'm doing. move in a good direction and iterate

but someone who is insecure feels their vote identifies them. so they only allow themselves perfect moves, everything has to be like a romance movie. because they have a fragile sense of self-regard. immaturity essentially

problems being:

1. every political contest that ever existed and ever will exist can be framed as choosing the lesser evil. they miss her context

2. hannah arendt, who fought fascism, would probably smack them: "no, you airhead fucks, you need to vote to prevent fascism here." although that might not be her exact choice of words
