Mal was Schönes:
Unter Brandenburgs Solarparks wächst neues Leben https://billmckibben.substack.com/p/buzzzzzzzzz
"To our untrained eye, a corn field looks more “natural” than arrays of solar panels. But that field is a biological desert .. sprayed with pest- and herbicides. Put up some solar panels, and add plants that only need to be mowed once a year (sometimes with sheep) and you see an explosion of life."

@Fparianen
Also, wheatears are killed by global warming, as a result of not having solar arrays.

Wilding is good but agro-voltaic is equally good.

The fossil fuel funded reactionaries are absolutely not guardians of the countryside.

@Fparianen And even better if the solar panels let through the light that plants need while filtering out the damaging solar radiation:

This feels very #Solarpunk - tomatoes grow well under light filter panels that remove all wavelengths the plants don't need and potentially render them available for solar power generation https://phys.org/news/2025-06-solar-panels-edge-tomatoes-grown.html (via Bill McKibben's newsletter https://billmckibben.substack.com/)

@Fparianen What I like to see are lavender fields filled with buzzing bees. When I walked along one route there were sunflowers on one side and beehives on the other. Millions of bees were flying between the two. They love lavender and sunflowers. In Switzerland you see a few lavender plants and plenty of sunflowers.
@Fparianen Don't mow ever, it's even bertter for biodiversity. Put the solar arrays off shore above the sea. The support structures become a haven for marine life.
@geoffl Germany isn't surrounded by the sea, we're already running into issues trying to get wind energy to Bavaria (which has been reluctant to build it's own turbines). So we definitely also need feasible solutions on land:)
@Fparianen But dear heaven please put the solar panels up high enough that sheep can actually *fit* in their shade. I see too many fields basically "paved" with solar panels, and it seems to me such a waste of "earth space". Vertical is also a direction!!!
@GinevraCat Interestingly, even the birds seem to be fine with vertical structures
@Fparianen That's really great! Thank you for sharing it.
@Fparianen danke, das habe ich heute gebraucht.
