Episource is notifying 5.4 million patients of a cyberattack in January:

Some media call this a #ransomware attack, but Episource does not mention any encryption of data and is silent on that question or any mention of any ransom demand. I cannot find any gang who has claimed responsibility for this incident or that has added it to any leak site.

@PogoWasRight

Two years of free credit monitoring I'll bet.

Can you gift that to heirs? I think i'm up to 50 years of free credit monitoring

@hello @PogoWasRight

I have been offered many times. Never accepted.

@SpaceLifeForm @hello

I accepted an offer of free credit monitoring services once when I was really ticked off about a breach and wanted the entity to have to pay for it. But nowadays, I just keep a security freeze on my credit reports.

Speaking of which, Tom O'Malley had a good post in which he recommends that people put security freezes on all 6 of the following:

👉 Experian
👉 Equifax
👉 TransUnion
👉 Innovis
👉 NCTUE (phone, utilities)
👉 ChexSystems (new bank accounts)
