Due to circumstances beyond my control, I’ve been made redundant at my job. If you want to hire an excellent Apple platforms developer (iOS, etc.) with 17 years of experience, time at Apple, and lots of SwiftUI experience, or a great Ruby on Rails developer, reach out.

Full-time or freelance. Ready to go immediately. Please spread the word. #Swift #RubyOnRails #GetFediHired

@collin Fucking hell, Collin. You are anything but redundant.

@Aaronvegh thanks. It’s a pretty messed up situation. It essentially comes down to the fact I’ve had shingles since February, and not thinking they can accommodate that, even though I’m now on nerve pain medication that is starting to work.

My productivity was good in the weeks I didn’t feel like I was being stabbed, but it also messed up my sleep pretty bad which made morning meetings hard. If I worked for a larger company, I would’ve gone on FMLA for it because it was so debilitating.

@Aaronvegh From a certain point of view, I kind of get it, because they are small and don’t have a lot of resources for someone who was sick for most of four months, but from another, I’m pretty pissed off.

Especially since the last couple of days the medicine has started working, so I’m finally not in much pain and able to work on my sleep.

@collin @Aaronvegh By any chance have you tried speaking to a labor attorney about being dismissed while dealing with a medical condition?
@vanvoorden @Aaronvegh no. From my little bit of research it seems like they can basically just fire you for any reason in the United States especially if they are below 50 people. Also, at that point I feel like where is that gonna lead? I’m not interested in suing anyone.
@collin I find their cold-bloodedness disturbing. Hope you’re feeling better soon, and best wishes for that search.
@Aaronvegh Thanks. I understand how things could’ve looked or felt from their perspective, but the reality is that I’ve been in pretty bad pain on and off for four months and they let me go two weeks after I canceled my previous health insurance.

@Avner thank you! I’ll look into this.
@Avner Dang. It looks like they literally closed applications today. What luck!
@collin hope to see you build the next big project for yourself
@joe me too. I have lots of ideas and think I could make into something cool and useful if I had some investment so that I could work on it full-time for a while.
@collin I have an idea but can’t build it - I could only write the backend. I want a crowd sourced app of what’s open late.
@collin ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
@collin also: if you want to lament being unemployed together we could hang some time!
@harpaa01 let’s do it! Anytime.
@collin my network is more android than iOS, and more Europe than US, but boosted this it just in case. Good luck!
