Does anyone else think this email is #ClickBait supposedly about #23andMe?
I guess it’s not, but who is going to buy our information??
@AlidaAntonia where does the link actually go to? Right click, copy address, pasted back here
@AmbianceAsunder I’m not clicking on that. I was just showing the return address.
@AlidaAntonia I said right click… which is different from a regular click… but okay - there’s no way of telling whether or not the threat is a threat without more information about the threat (the link) - if there is a class action (wouldn’t be surprised) they might use a settlement lawyer/office to send out the comms and thus via an unknown sender

@AmbianceAsunder I got a letter from Apex Global saying my medical info was in a breach. I got another email saying I was in a breach. This second email had an identifier at the bottom. That’s why I didn’t trust the first one we were discussing about 23&me. That’s how it should be done.

Someone did use one of my credit cards while I had it at home. Still haven’t figured out how they got that information.

@AlidaAntonia gas stations usually - any time you stick your card into something or tap it, pull on it pretty hard. At least it was only a credit card, those charges are easier to handle usually and get reversed. The whole communication of breaches thing is usually sketchy from my experience because they stand up temporary websites through law firms and what not. I agree with ya - it’s almost insult to injury asking people to click on sketchy links or go to sketchy websites to let them know you are applicable for the lawsuit payouts (not to mention how shitty the pay is for having your data permanently breached)
@AmbianceAsunder I know about card readers. I use gasoline credit cards and get an immediate email. This card was used to purchase things online at reputable businesses and I am EXTREMELY careful. 8 years of attending the DerbyCon conference and reading lots of white papers made me very aware. Plus, I don’t click on shite.
@AlidaAntonia not sure then! Best guess would have to be a PCI breach somewhere then
