Feeling frustrated by Mastodons API features. I just want to mine URLs and find nasty ones in the fediverse, but at least one of the streaming devs seems pretty against live data acquisition in bulk. I get why they’re concerned, but blocking the firehose seems like it inconveniences everyone including the good guys - overall just a heavy handed approach to something I would’ve expected to be open and public as is the intent of decentralized data.

I have no idea how any of this is sustainable. It's supposed to make billions in the future. But everyone hates it.
Epic Null@serge @AAKL @autiomaa Honestly, I think we should consider resource use per task a metric, not a target when comparing across tasks.
It may not be a great idea to squeeze one groups tasks to serve another, but applying the lense does help us identify where we might find the symptoms of massave systemic probelms that need to be resolved.
