That’s hot! 🥵
@stux Is there a link or reference for this amazing video?
@stux I've often thought about the possibility of us sending very large asteroids into a predictable orbit near the sun that would smelt the minerals into useful materials while burning away the rock.
@stux
I always wonder at when speed those videos are taken. How would it look in realtime?

@stux It gives no sense of scale, until you think about the radius of the sun.

They are STAGGERINGLY HUGE !

@stux sure it looks hot, but you should see my camp fire building technique.
@stux the flare at the bottom of the video looks like it even spells out "HOT" right at the end

@stux

Urge to pet the soft fuzzy sun.

@futurebird @stux that's not a pet, it's a wild gravity bound fusion reactor. They're look cute and they're essential to basically all ecosystems, but it's important to exercise caution. I've been burned by one of those before
@radicalabacus @futurebird @stux You sound like you could be the most friendly robot in a kids' show...
@radicalabacus @futurebird @stux agreed. Suns don't make great pets due to their tendency to live for 5 billion years longer than their owners
@stux Absolutely unreal
@stux not gonna lie it looks delicious. I'd eat

@stux I stare at this video and even still, it’s so hard to fathom the size & power of what I’m looking at.

The amount of the universe we just don’t know and will never see or understand is mindblowing and beautiful in a nihilistic way.

@stux
Hot...Like, really fucking hot.

The hottest part of the Sun is its core, where temperatures top 27 million°F (15 million°C). The part of the Sun we call its surface – the photosphere – is a relatively cool 10,000° F (5,500°C).

How Hot Is the Sun?

Temperatures vary between different layers. So just how hot is the sun?

Space
@stux wait, of the ejection is several time the size of the earth, how fast is it ejected?
@stux The waving grasses of the solar fields, blowing in the solar winds.
@stux looks like the hairy ball theorem is needed!

@stux i like how it look kinda fuzzy, like its a furry
@stux I've been watching this for 2 hours now. It's fascinating, yes, but what I'm trying to say is: I'd really appreciate a progress bar for GIFs 😄
@stux When I look at this, I wonder, how could something so complex *not* be alive and sentient. Our Sun is a god. Has to be.
@stux hold on a sec... The Sun is hairy!?
@stux What would earth be without sun
@stux what a background image 🧐
@stux i need a solar hydrogen alpha filter so bad.,,.,
but they're so expensive
@stux Extraordinarily hot... The coolest bits... Don't expect your black spaceship with a black control panel, with all black displays to survive the impact...
