@randahl It is probably time for the American president to be brought before the International Criminal Court (ICC) for war crimes, crimes against humanity and genocide, including for his recommendation to the Israeli government to commit war crimes in Gaza. It is no excuse that he has not been in the military, but always us others for the dirty work. He can still get into good company with his friends Netanyahu and Putin.

@randahl It's certainly a shabby display, from a regime that's known for that, but your analogy is hyperbolic and inappropriate. We are not in a state of war with Russia. The situation is not even slightly comparable to the US-NSDAP situation of 1944.

The problem, too, is not our government. It is we ourselves. We elected these people. WE are to blame for their actions. What we need to "get rid" of is the cancer within ourselves, the body politic.

@wesdym I disagree with your statement “we are not in a state of war with Russia”.

Here in Scandinavia, our sea cables are being sabotaged by Russia. So are our undersea radars. In Germany, Russia has tried to kill the leader of a military company. In the Czech Republic, Russia has blown up weapons depots, and we have seen internet cable sabotage in France, while a civilian has been murdered by Russia in Spain.

Meanwhile, EU's ascension country Ukraine is being bombed every single day.

@randahl Well, then you disagree. But I think that most reasonable people will find the analogy ridiculous, which by extension dilutes the argument I presume you want to make.

It was apparently quite easy and there's fuck all we can do about it now. The law leaves no recourse and they don't care anyway. But it's worth recording and finding out just how many of us are evil or not.

@crazyeddie I'm waiting on the evidence, but I'm suspicious myself. I won't get my back up until evidence emerges, however. After all, that's what our opponents did, and their own people said they were wrong about that. It's very important not let our imagination make choices for us.

Assigning guilt to those who have no agency is unhelpful. We voted for Kamala. The racists voted for Trump, and there were more of them. There is nothing we could have done to change their racism, so there is nothing that we could have done to change their votes.

The bad guys won. We are not immune to that.

Our country has been a haven for refugees from such tragedies for centuries. Now the roles are reversed, and many of us Americans will need to seek refuge elsewhere.

@randahl Rubio is kind of a special case, and I'll be very interested to see what historians say about him years from now. But this is actually fairly moderate for him. If you read between the lines, this is not promising anything. Nor does it commend the Russian GOVERNMENT, but instead the "people". It's a subtle hint that "Y'all should consider who's running your country, and where they've brought you." At worst, it's just a very bland bit of diplomacy. At best, it's a hint they should revolt.

@randahl I never bought the entire "Land of the Free" nonsense, I always thought of the USA as one horrible abomination. I have to admit I've never been there, but I wouldn't feel safe in a land where anybody might have a gun, where religious nutters of all kinds are spreading their superstitious rubbish, and where everybody is trying to stop teenagers from having sex instead of teaching them how to be safe like any sane society would. From what I have gathered from the US media which reach me here in Germany, there is an insane amount of pressure in much of the US, you're only "free" if you're a conformist who goes along with whatever all the others do, otherwise you'll get kicked out of school, out of your job, out of everything, and some random bullies will beat you up and leave you bleeding on the ground. There are some places where things are better, but most of those places are in the urban regions along the coastlines.
I think it's about time the world stopped believing in the USA. It's not even a great democracy by democratic standards. It was built upon genocide and slavery. It's a capitalist hellhole ruled by the rich. I really hope that Trumpism does some lasting damage to the international reputation of the USA.
Then again, I'm an anti-national radical leftist anarchist, I want to live on a planet without rulers, without governments, without borders or nations, without money or markets, without property, without hierarchy.

Russia smuggles soldiers in who present themselves as freedom fighters against ”oppression”, giving them top-tier weapons and a huge international smear campaign against Lithuania.
