day 7: album cover that shows a lot of sky

so may choices for this one… I will stay with

Black Country, New Road - For The First Time
An awesome #rock #postrock #postpunk #experimental album with jazzy vibes, heady melodies and dancing rhythms, from 2021.
Their 2nd album (and last with the same singer) is good too but their 3rd has completely changed the style and I don't like it.
I regret not achieving to see them live during this first period.

#30dayschallenge #music

mandatory second choice album for day 7:

Noir Désir 666.667 Club. A fantastic album from my youth which I listened so many times that I quite know (or knew) it perfectly.
Noir Désir was an awesome #rock band from #France in the 80s and 90s which career stopped tragically in 2003 (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bertrand_Cantat#Murder_of_Marie_Trintignant).
Since several years, I don't feel like listening to them so often, probably in part because of this murder. Tragic history and losses.

day 9: that is orange (I'm late I know!)

The more orange album cover I know is Push from Heads.
A raw, harsh #postpunk #postrock with #industrial sounds

#30Daychallenge #music #rock

day 10: with food or a drink on it

I searched hard but didn't find many covers.

I finally choose Yeah Yeah Yeahs - It's Blitz! (I didn't had its cover image in mind)
#postpunk #rock #dancing #electronic

(other: Benjamin Clementine - At least for now, Puce Mary - The drought)

#30Daychallenge #music

day 11: with no title on it

Lysistrata - Breathe In/Out
a #French #rock #mathrock #postrock #postpunk #posthardcore #noiserock band.
Really good album and the band is awesome in concert.

(others: Low - Hey What, or Fridge - Happiness)

#30DaysChallenge #music #posteverything

day 12: with water on it

Mogwai - Hardcore will never die, but you will.
An awesome #postrock #instrumental #rock by an essential band if you're interested in post-rock.
I'm a big fan of their early work (Come on die young, Rock Action), but not that much of following albums, I find those less 'energyful', too slow and a little bit boring.
But this release from 2011 is great and I really enjoy listening to it.

#30DayChallenge #music

day 13: that is yellow

Guns N' Roses - Use Your Illusion I from 1991
I bought the cassette in the 90s and I remember I got 'blasted' by its loudness when first putting it in my portable radio cassette. I had to keep it at minimal volume! it was my first steps in 'hard rock/metal/...' music :)

I don't really listen to it now, I prefer Appetite for Destruction (more raw/punk) but UYI is still filled with great songs.

#hardrock #rock #punk #glamrock #gunsnroses #90s #30DayChallenge #music

second choice for day 13

TV On The Radio - OK Calculator from 2002

A demo collection from the band which I find quite enjoyable, with different styles, sounds and inspirations.

(others: Percubaba, Clinic, Ulrika Spacek, Slaves)

#indierock #artrock #artrock #30dayschallenge #music

day 14: with something flying on it

Pink Floyd - Animals from 1977
I think describing it's not needed, it's simply awesome!

About the band, I like the albums Meddle, WYWH, DSOTM, Animals and not a lot more (the OST More, a little Ummagumma).

I'm not sure why but I don't like The Wall. And I know it's inconceivable for most fans.
(I'll not even talk about the 'movie')

(others: Yanqui UXO of course)

#rock #progrock #rockpsyche #instrumental #cult #70s #30dayschallenge #music

day 15: that has a minimalistic design

Shellac - At action park
Shellac is a #noise #noiserock band from Chicago formed by Steve Albini (the famous producer), Bob Weston and Todd Trainer.

First album of the band, from 1994

Not much to say, listen to it, or any of the other albums.

(others: a lot from Swans)

#30dayschallenge #rock #music #albini

day 16: with someone laying or sitting on it

Deftones - Around the fur
Second album of the band, from 1997.
I was discovering (and enjoying) #neometal / #numetal at this period and really liked both Deftones and Korn.
I read that this rock/metal subgenre has now a bad reputation (for 'true' metal fans) but it was refreshing, innovating and I still like a lot this album (and the following White Pony).
#alternativemetal #altrock #altmetal

#30dayschallenge #rock #music

another one: Helmet - Betty

another influential #alternativemetal #altmetal album from the 90s (1994).
Loud and heavy, it also has #jazz and #blues influences

#30dayschallenge #music #rock

another one to diversify: Feu! Chatterton - L'oiseleur from 2018
Second album of this #french #rock band which combines rock and more pop rhythms with poetic lyrics.

I saw them some years ago at the Checkin Party festival in Guéret (France) and it was fantastic!
It was a good show to conclude the festival singing and dancing :) with positive attitude!

#30dayschallenge #music

day 17: that is green

Third Degree Burnt by Oslø Telescopic is a trilogy by this #french #experimental #rock #folk #electronic project
Hard to describe, experimental, noisy, harsh… but also really interesting.

#30dayschallenge #music

day 18: with a title in big letters

Idles: Brutalism / Five Years of Brutalism
This specific cover is for the 5 years reedition of their first album from 1997 which I like a lot.
#postpunk #rock #altrock from UK

#30dayschallenge #music

day 19: that shows one or more hand(s)

Godspeed You! Black Emperor - Lift Your Skinny Fists To Heaven is the obvious choice.
2nd album, from 2000, released on Constellation as usual. It's a milestone in #postrock #indierock #instrumental #rock music. If you don't know them or this album, listen to it with time and peaceful mind.

I love this band so much, it has been very influential in my musical journey in the late 90s, start of 00s.

Cult. 5 stars.

#30dayschallenge #music

day 20: with a flower or a plant on it

Fridge - Happiness
The 2001 album from this English #instrumental #electronic #postrock band is worth listening

#30dayschallenge #music

day 21: that is blue

a lot of choices for this one, let's choose
Metallica - Ride The Lightning because it's an awesome album from 1984! (already 40 years ago…)
Second album of the band, it's less speed and heavy than their first one and introduces really great compositions and fantastic songs.

I don't listen to #metal really often now but this album still resonates in me when I heard it.

#30dayschallenge #music #rock #heavymetal #thrashmetal #metallica

others:

- Sigur Rós - Ágætis byrjun from 1999. Great #postrock album
- Nirvana - Nevermind of course! Awesome and I like to jump all around listening to it
- Pantera - Far Beyond Driven: didn't like it at first before starting to appreciate it
- Erik Truffaz - Bending new Corners from 1999, I listened a lot of Truffaz in a certain period, #jazz mixed with modern styles
- Guns n' Roses Use Your Illusion II, less consistent and great than I, but still has great songs

and so many more…

day 22: with a building or architecture

Oiseaux-Tempête their first eponymous album from 2013
This #french band plays an #avantgarde #experimental #noise #postrock (and a lot of other tags) music, absolutely amazing. Go see them live if you can!

#30dayschallenge #music #rock #oiseauxtempete #france

day 23: where someone is looking away

Spotlight on a #english #UK band playing some sort of #folk #postrock #altrock: Caroline with their eponymous first album.

others: Christine and the Queens - Chaleur Humaine, The Kills - Blood pressures, The White Stripes - Elephant and much more

#30dayschallenge #music #rock

day 24: that only uses 2 or 3 colors

I was struggling with this one, having no evident album (from non already talked about bands) when I stumbled upon
Ez3kiel - Barb4ry from 2003
This #french band plays a mix of #dub, #electronic and #rock and this album is one of my favorites.
I saw them at Les Eurocks Belfort, it was awesome, with stunning visual effects (music and visual are both integral parts of the show)

#30dayschallenge #music

day 25: with a shadow reflection or silhouette

the first album of Korn is my choice. It was released in 1994 and is at the origin of the nu-metal movement which will 'explodes' around the world in the 90s.

I didn't listen to it in many many years but I'm enjoying it right now :) and can confirm it's amazing! Music, voice, so many interesting things.

Its cover visually describes its mood well: fear, danger, oppression…

#metal #numetal #korn #90s #altmetal #30DayChallenge #music #rock

day 26: with something round on it

Moin - Moot!
Moin is an #english #alternative #electronic #postpunk band from which I like this album and Paste.
Really interesting

Others: Swans - soundtracks from the blind, Darkside - Psychic,

#30dayschallenge #music #rock

day 27: that is purple

Sloy - Planet of Tubes
spotlight to a #French (from #Rennes) #indierock band from the #90s.
Planet of Tubes is their second album and is absolutely purple! :) It was produced by the famous Steve Albini

I personally prefer their third album Electrelite but if you don't know them, it's worth listening to, they have a very original and distinct sound.

#30dayschallenge #music #rock

days 28: that shows two persons on it

Rodrigo y Gabriela - Live in Japan shows both artists and it's a good way to feel the energy of their music when played live.

They both play spanish/flamenco guitar in duo combining flamenco, #rock, #metal in an astonishing way.

(It was hard to decide for this one, but most albums or bands were already covered in this challenge. Other albums: The Dø, The Kills, The Chemical Brothers, Protomartyr, and more)

#30dayschallenge #music

day 29: with something burning

This one is obvious in my mind since beginning this challenge

Rage Against The Machine first album from 1992.
I love this album since I discovered it in my teen years, it was a revelation and it's awesome!
Their mix of #rock, #punk #metal, #rap phrasing and political (anti-authoritarian, anti-capitalist, revolutionary) lyrics is as burning as the cover.

I can not not jump (and shout) all around when I heard their music.

#30dayschallenge #music #burnthesystem

day 30 is supposed to be dedicated to my favorite cover ever, but I'm not good to choose best or worst things, so I have no idea. I also don't isolate the album cover from the album music so I mostly like all the covers of albums I like :) See previous days for a non-exhaustive list.
