Glendale, which is a city in LA County, just canceled its contract with ICE.

Because protesting works. Protesting works. Protesting works. Protesting works. Protesting works. Protesting works. Protesting works. Protesting works. Protesting works. Protesting works.

@raph An effective tactic for avoiding rebellions in your city! Maybe Los Angeles should try it?

@raph

They've also discovered that future lawsuit settlements are very, very expensive.

Republican billionaires delude themselves that they've created the perfect corrupt convict labor leasing scheme.

@raph may it be the first of many

@raph

The problems caused by people like #Trump and #Musk can be solved by not cooperating with them. The more people do this, the sooner these two problems will no longer be relevant. The most obvious form of non-cooperation is confrontation. But any business relationship, large or small, should also be avoided. Don't drive a #Tesla, don't use #X or #Starlink, and the same applies to Trump's businesses.

@raph Dont do anything rash. Only 3.5 years left. This too shall pass.
@welkin7 @raph 3.5 years?? that assumes we'll even *have* elections at that point.
@rothko @raph We will and we have to make sure that we vote. There are about 240 million eligible voters. Out of which only about 156 million voters voted. We need to get out and vote. That is the only language that Washington DC residents value and understand.
@raph @briankrebs Sorry, do I get this right -- ICE is a federal agency and you need a _contract_? As in "canceled the contract with the FBI/DEA/..."?
I'm irritated...
@morg42 @raph @briankrebs
No, the agreement is on housing federal immigration detainees at the Glendale Police Department facility, if I understand correctly. I'm afraid it won't change much.
@morg42 @raph @briankrebs they don’t have enough resources to do their job. They need local jails, vehicles, and officers who know the area and people. They operate more as a task force, a few actual agents with local cops filling in as needed.
@raph yooo hell yeah! Scary shit but much love to protesters. Don't let The Narrative win
@raph @courtcan Probably helps that an Armenian kid and US citizen was detained by ICE, just sayin…
