Ok tea nerds of Canada!
I need a good online site to order loose tea from.

Ya know, the ones that have 43 different green teas, not the vanilla buckwheat caramel flavoured things (no disrespect if that's yer fruity festive vibe).

I am weirdly having a hard time finding an orange pekoe-ish that makes me happy (and need more loose green tea too). So going deep tea nerd now!

☝️ooo my cup runneth over! Lots of excellent leads, will explore them tomorrow when my brain returns (hopefully).

I knew ya'll would be the right crowd for this.
Danka! 🫖

☝️ok! Got tea!
Ended up going with https://theteahaus.com/ because they are local(ish) and their website hurt my brain the least. 🧠
But SO many good suggestions of tea suppliers in Canada on this thread, check it out mah tea nerds!

Also if you would like to literally buy me a cup of tea you can donate to my ko-fi to help cover costs.

Got a bunch of lil samples this round, including one called Vinyl Cafe.🎙️ Am searching for my new fav tea. Order was $52

I wanted to share how this played out with my brain so others know they're not alone in these struggles, and maybe steal tips.

Friday: ask for help so I don't have to search The Whole Internet
*rest*
Saturday: look at a bunch of links
*rest*
Later Saturday: pick a store, plan selections
*rest*
Sunday: make order and navigate checkout.🎉
*brag about accomplishment*
🐢💨
This was actually a fast turnaround for a task for me, sometimes it takes weeks to nudge stuff forward.

@vlrny multi-day process very familiar
@picard *my slow brain nods in respect to your slow brain*
@vlrny Well uh. Do I need to be Canadian? Bc I have a site but uh, um. I'm in the US...um. So yeah.
@dancm yeah, definitely want to aim for domestic shipping. Anything over the border is a schnozzle these days. I still haven't unschnozzled the schnozzle from the last thing I tried to order from the US.
You seem exactly like the kind of person who would say: "oh, you need tea? I know a guy." BTW. 😃
@vlrny oof yeah I hear that. OK. Because yeah, I know a Tea Lady. But she's in Los Angeles :(

@vlrny ok I poked around and found this. Lmk if this ain't it and I'll look some more. They're in Toronto.

Black Tea

@vlrny Camellia sinensis is a reputable place, I am not as familiar with Canadian sources but this would be a good place to start…

@nathanlovestrees @vlrny

can vouch for this one! (long story, but they're good or at least they were some years ago) 🌿

@vlrny Folks in my circle are happy with the tea they get from the World Tea House, a small independent shop - https://worldteahouse.ca/collections/

Tea Trader! Ted & co have been selling genuine tea for most of my adult life! Highly recommend.

https://teatrader.com/

Edited to add, they're Canadian, in Calgary, & do a lot of online business
Edited again to add, you asked for orange pekoe & they have several including a great Ceylon OP, but may I recommend the Alberta Clipper, their house blend of Assam, Yunnan & Darjeeling teas!

@vlrny I would definitely love to hear what orange pekoe you end up liking best!

Teastore here in Ottawa and Tea Haus in London are both good! I can’t remember if Grand River tea has a pekoe - if they do, I haven’t tried it. There are other Canadian importers I’ve been meaning to try but haven’t yet.

@vlrny Before I got my tea from the place across the street, I ordered it online from a place on Commercial Drive in Vancouver. I *think* this is it https://vicinitymart.com/collections/tea

I usually buy Ahmad Earl Grey in bulk but the Do Ghozal is also good.

CBC columnist @cardamomaddict recently wrote about Karen Hartwick, a tea sommelier and owner of Tea Leaves tea bar in Stratford, Ontario. They sell and blend custom teas! Don't know if they sell online, tho.
