Nearly £1bn in funding has been confirmed for major #transport upgrades across the Tees Valley through the City Region Sustainable Transport Settlement (CRSTS2). The £978m package will accelerate key projects, including a new station at Teesside Park, a third platform at Middlesbrough Station, and an autonomous #tram network. Other priorities include a £20m upgrade to #Teesside Airport station, a new South Bank station to support Teesworks, and a £15m bus station in #Middlesbrough. Improvements to the A19 Tees Crossing, studies for an Eastern Tees Crossing, and better freight access from Eaglescliffe to Northallerton are also included. The plan will upgrade nine major bus corridors, enhance cycling infrastructure, and develop a Darlington Northern Link Road. Mayor Ben Houchen welcomed the funding, calling it a vital step toward delivering better daily transport, supporting growth, and boosting trade across Teesside, #Darlington, and #Hartlepool.
