United Kingdom, setback for Starmer. Reform UK gains ground on the right.

The local elections held yesterday, May 7th, in the United Kingdom confirm the difficult moment for the Labour Party led by Prime Minister Keir Starmer, while Reform UK, the anti-immigration right, led by Nigel Farage, is experiencing a solid advance. According to the latest election results in England, Labour has already lost over 250 council seats and control of at least eight municipal administrations, suffering heavy defeats, especially in the traditional northern industrial strongholds of the country. The Conservatives are also withdrawing, losing over 140 seats, confirming the crisis of British traditional bipolarism.

Traditional parties therefore come out defeated, while Reform UK has secured more than 360 local seats and achieved significant successes in historically Labour areas such as Hartlepool, Wigan and Newcastle-under-Lyme. For leader Farage, it is “a historic change in British politics.” However, alongside the right, the Liberal Democrats and the Greens are also growing.

The vote is interpreted as a referendum on Starmer’s leadership, elected by a wide majority in July 2024 but now experiencing a sharp decline in popularity. Tensions are increasing within Labour, and some party figures have already called for a change of leadership. However, the Prime Minister has ruled out the possibility of resigning, stating that he wants to “take responsibility” for results deemed “very difficult.”

Steve Reed is a white guy in central London who is also my MP. I've written letters to him but he does not reply.
I used to have Bel Ribeiro Addy as my MP before the boundary change, she replied.

See how Steve Reed is picking a fight with a Labour council (that won't be a labour council come May)

The Labour Party doesn't care how it looks, just so long as the Rich are served.
