TFW you cant tell the difference between a north korean smartphone, and windows 11 with recall

In North Korea, your phone secretly takes screenshots every 5 minutes for government surveillance

The phone was featured in a BBC video, which showed it powering on with an animated North Korean flag waving across the screen. While the report did...

@Viss
So what they're saying is North Korea is ahead of Microsoft in technology.
@FritzAdalis well, maybe not 'ahead', but they're just being transparent about the government spying. here, the corporations are the government so corporate spying is the same thing.
@Viss
Idk it sounds like a mature product with no user complaints.

@FritzAdalis
NK will know about user complaints just before they manifest and deal with the possibly complaining user.

MS is still struggling to scale such "solutions" to their user base.
@Viss

@Ifrauding @FritzAdalis ms doesnt care about user complaints, it only cares about stock prices and market momentum
@Viss Android Gemini is doing this now too.
@Tristan i turn that shit off everywhere i can but its getting harder.
@Viss
5 minutes vs 5 seconds is a difference.
@leeloo this is under the assumption that you are taking MS at their word
@Viss @leeloo either way both use #Govware and that alone disqualifies them!
@Viss
Why wouldn't I take MS at their word, when they claim to be so much worse than North Korea?

@leeloo i suppose one indicator is that its clear the north korean government is like the chinese government in that it just spies on everyone all the time, and doesnt bother lying about it

"of course we spy. what of it?"

whereas microsoft

... lies about it

@Viss Could it be MS only knows theft of intellectual property when committed by others? 🤔

@Viss I think I can spot a pretty big difference.

I'm pretty sure Recall is taking screenshots a lot more frequently.

@nazokiyoubinbou yeah recall is also capturing way more than screenshots

@Viss I put it as a joke, but I mean honestly, they're storing actual screenshots (which is pretty big and an even bigger privacy violation) whereas Recall is mostly just storing the text it processes from them, so major size differences on several orders of magnitude.

But both are still

@Viss
NK phone needs less RAM.
@Viss
"a north korean smartphone"
Don't be surprised. Donald is an admirer of dictators and is allready building his own control system:
