Blue Labour's pernicious influence over the Labour party is now focussed on dismantling Diversity, Equality & Inclusion provisions across the UK (following the logic of the Trump administration), supposedly to help Labour claim voters back from ReformUK.

But lets be clear; this is just a fig leaf for an older logic that looks to (once again) blame migration & multiculturalism for the travails of the UK.

This would be a move precisely in the wrong direction.

Blue Labour group urges ministers to ‘root out DEI’ to win over Reform voters

Faction influencing No 10 says government should legislate against DEI in hiring, sentencing and ‘wherever else’

Unfortunately they are capable of operating over a wider spectrum - as the renewed monstering of the #attorneygeneral #richardhermer for daring to speak up for the rule of law - even international law - and citing #carlschmitt as a cautionary tale of where rejection of this can lead - shows only too well. I fear that they may be taking particular pleasure in going after the equalities minister - #seemamalhotra - who happens to be both female and of #southasian heritage! .

@djr2024

What I don't get is why they are even in the Labour party.... but I assume this is a matter f neutering even social democracy led alone a left-leaning political party?

@ChrisMayLA6

They are there because groups like #labourtogether and the heroically misnamed #labourtowin saw them as useful auxiliaries against their #corbynista opponents - just as the latter earlier on had made use of some pretty unpleasant groupuscules themselves. History is littered with cases where supposed auxiliaries get out of hand - the #freikorps in the early #weimarrepublic being the classic example!

@djr2024

yes, that makes sense - I long ago gave up trying to make sense of Labour's internal politicking, but I can see how that would have worked

@ChrisMayLA6

There is an appreciable risk that #bluelabour may succeed in eroding in advance the cultural and institutional barriers to the entrenchment of a #farright regime in the #uk after the next general election. It is that serious!
