This eastern giant swallowtail (π˜—π˜’π˜±π˜ͺ𝘭π˜ͺ𝘰 𝘀𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘱𝘩𝘰𝘯𝘡𝘦𝘴, formerly 𝘏𝘦𝘳𝘒𝘀𝘭π˜ͺπ˜₯𝘦𝘴 𝘀𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘱𝘩𝘰𝘯𝘡𝘦𝘴) posed for us quite proudly on yesterday's hike on the WIley Trails:

Those are BIG HONKING butterflies. We get a few up here. I see maybe one or two each season. Hard NOT to notice themπŸ˜†

I was just psyched that this one stayed still long enough for us to get pictures. At least 3/4 of the butterflies we see are too busy to pose.

It helps some if it's cooler day. As the temp goes up the butterflies seem to also speed upπŸ™„
