German politician Nico Semsrott has suggested that we give billionaires one year to solve the climate crisis. If they fail to do so, we should dispossess them. I think that’s a wonderful idea! It's never going to happen, but it's nice to dream.

@bastianallgeier

but its more important to be nice

@ElGrossKotzo @bastianallgeier

As a reminder:
we are the good ones, not the nice ones

@bastianallgeier

So wirksam wie Merzens Ukraine-Ultimatum ist es ja wohl mindestens.

@HaWeCom @bastianallgeier They need ten years....of nuclear winter, during which they'll stop buying, & start drinking up, the better red burgundies in their underground bunkers. When the sun comes out, world population will be 80 millions and everyone can become a king! Everyone who matters, and who is in a good state of health, that is.
@bastianallgeier we need to let them understand that it is their created mess! Since 1987 even UN is maintaining silence over who is responsible for it. https://open.substack.com/pub/joshuto/p/the-greatest-challange-the-golden?r=1gxdhi&utm_medium=ios
The Greatest Challange : The Golden Future -Osho

A book addressed to the intelligent people of this threatened planet.It is important to read the vision of a mystic for our golden future. It is a call to creators of the world to come together.

@Philosia @bastianallgeier

nope - one cannot let consumers off so readily.

their cars are among the leading causes of global warming, and ecosystem destruction due to resource extraction.

electric cars are no solution - a rethinking of how to dwell on Earth without fucking it up is necessary.

consumers are like a plague of locusts, devouring everything, leaving nothing untouched.

@bastianallgeier We would need to come up with an extremely watertight definition of „solve“, if we were to do that. Otherwise they would just detonate nukes until we are in nuclear winter.
@bastianallgeier Germany supposed to have other priorities as for example
1) Diversify its economy
2) Present global investors business models that don't depend on extractive resources
3) Promote the Nation as the only G7 members that still ranked AAA
4) Conceive business models capable of creating dozens millions of jobs that can't be taken by robots
5) Build a budget based more than 80% on abroad revenues and not on money taken from tax PAYERS
I could continue with over 30 priorities
@A07Rodrigues @bastianallgeier Most of these are absurd.
1) They are good at advanced manufacturing with high wages and good working conditions. Asia owns chipmaking. So cars trains and planes. Services can be done cheaper elsewhere.
2) See #1. You can't make stuff without raw materials. Recycling sure, but that is just another form of extraction.
4) Dig holes and fill them up. If jobs can be done by robots we need a different means of distribution.
5) Requires making stuff, conflicts with 1,2
@bastianallgeier it's a bad incentive. They will send up kilotons of aerosols made of trade secrets and claim they did it.

@bastianallgeier

Oh, that's a good idea. Haven't heard of it yet. Thank you for pointing this out.

I found this:

Nico Semsrott: "Alle Milliardäre enteignen!"

YouTube
@bastianallgeier Too harsh. They should only be asked to reduce climate chaos by half each year, or lose half their money, for the next 5 years. We should give them a chance.
@woo you're one of them. Fuck off, Nazi.
@Tenor2JT @woo that escalated quickly
@utf_7 @Tenor2JT Thanks for the confirmation. I thought I was having 'one of my turns'. :-)
@bastianallgeier they force the companies they sit on the boards of to plan in quarters. Give them 3 months and then cancel them when they fail and send a “it’s nothing personal, we just are restructuring society to better serve our needs.”
@bastianallgeier
Since none of that is going to happen, who cares?
@bastianallgeier Oh Yes, that is a wonderful idea, indeed. Makes perfect sense, but yeah unless people make that happen, it definitely won't. Sigh!
@bastianallgeier The one problem with this idea is it presumes we haven't been giving them years as is, and between them either not solving it or actively funding "climate change isn't real!" propaganda....I think we're already at the dispossess point.
@bastianallgeier how about we retroactively declare the past decade as their trial period and dispossess them now?
@bastianallgeier Let’s be nice to the billionaires. Give them two years.
@bastianallgeier He is no longer a politician. And he was also a weird comedian doing useless work in the EU parliament...a totally overrated comedian
@bastianallgeier Step one, billionaires will dispose of everyone inside that year as to not be dispossessed.
@bastianallgeier There must be some kind of penalty if they don't do their job, as applies to any contractor. And that money should be used for education or charity... (I'm already assuming they can't solve it, aren't I?)
@bastianallgeier they would just devise a solution that has everyone else living in modern factory towns with no independent mobility instead of making any meaningful changes to the industries they run or their own personal lifestyles.
@bastianallgeier
They've had 50 years. I say we guillotine a few of them.

@bastianallgeier

Never happen sadly

Illionaires have convinced too many people they need to exist for the rest of usto be anything more than displaced cave people.

@bastianallgeier They could fund the construction of offshore wind farms all over the world. That would put a large dent in the problem:
@bastianallgeier Some of these billionaires said AI would solve climate change. If not then we can dispose of AI.
@bastianallgeier @lisamelton “dispossess them” in what sense? Head from the rest of body?🤞🏼
@bastianallgeier Why give them time? They’ve already failed to do anything. They’d just use the year to weaponize against dispossession. We’ve reached this level of inequality. It’s beyond time to stop being nice to our oppressors.
@bastianallgeier they can’t buy us a new planet and their wealth is not unconditional on a hostile planet so they should be interested in this proposal

@bastianallgeier

perhaps if we began to construct guillotines in public spaces, they'll get the hint.

@bastianallgeier Why does it have to be billionaires?

How about this: Let's take the billionaires' money and give it to the people who actually care about the climate.

@bastianallgeier They'd just accelerate the demise of the majority of the earth's population (while trying to make a profit).

I vote we move directly to their dispossession instead.

@bastianallgeier @nicosemsrott , they called you a politician! 😲😤🙃
