COVID vaccination during pregnancy:
1. PROTECTS against infection-related miscarriage
2. LOWERS the risk of severe COVID in the newborn
3. Does not increase risks of hospitalization, hemorrhage, and other markers of harm in the newborn

So no harm, and a clear benefit.

@mcnado but does it cause autism? πŸ€” πŸ…πŸ’¨πŸ€›
@mcnado But it protects women and families so we have to oppose it somehow.
@mcnado My daughter did a rotation in a NICU during the first year or two of the pandemic. Every premature infant with health issues was born to a mom who had COVID. Completely anecdotal, but enough to scare me.
@ImmedicableME multiple studies confirmed that trend.
@mcnado Do you think it will be still available to pregnant women who request it? Or will insurance stop covering it and it will be prohibitively expensive? That's the rub because whatever that lunatic recommends is irrelevant to me and probably most others.
@GPJohnston my guess is it will be prior-auth only for private, and unavailable for Medicaid, but this is a very unusual situation. The rub with respect to pregnant women is a question of who bears the cost of not vaccinating β€” kids who die in the first days of life are often functionally uninsured because they were never issued a social security number and you can’t get them signed up.
@mcnado Yes but if people are sick then they're easier to manipulate. Plus they can blame immigrants, trans folks and Democrats. So, big win for the fascists.
@jbayes @mcnado with all the evidence there is for pregnancy, I hope he gets sued, 🀞🏾 karma exists
