Call for Participation – Getting to know GNOME

@deobald @sri @Endof10 I've signed up for our local repair cafe (didn't know that we had one) in Charlottesville, VA, US (https://cvilletimebank.com/repair-cafe/). I've talked with several of the organizers and they are quite interested in End Of 10 and want to help keep systems out of the landfill. I have to go to an orientation, but they'd like for me to be able to tell the rest of the local members about other options ASAP.
Repair Café

Back away from that trash can! The landfill doesn’t need that broken toaster, that buttonless shirt, that unreliable vacuum, or that creaky chair. But you do—so get it fixed at the Repair Café. The…

@dperson @sri @Endof10 extremely cool! the entire goal of end of 10 is to run repair cafes, so they are looking at the right project, for sure!

if you (or they) want to get involved, the website is here: https://endof10.org/contribute/

you can just add your repair cafe to the list, join the matrix channel, or fully ask to get involved in the campaign! your level of involvement is up to you. :)

@deobald @sri @Endof10 As soon as I'm officially a member (this weekend) I'll check with them about getting the repair cafe added to the endof10.org website listing.

I joined the main matrix chat as well. Thanks for the pointers and helping raise awareness!

@deobald @sri @Endof10 Do locations for setting up a Linux InstallFest-style thing have to be repair cafes specifically, or can it be something held in some other, not-immediately-tech-related venue hosted by enthusiasts?

@domojestic @sri @Endof10 as i understand it, the delivery on the ground is up to the people doing the volunteering -- as long as you bring an old laptop back to life, i don't think it matters too much how. :)

but please do confirm with the endof10.org folks!
