In case you missed it, Microsoft just cancelled the email account of the International Criminal Court's chief prosecutor because Trump doesn't like them:

It's really risky to depend on centralised tech firms based in countries with authoritarian regimes. I know people wish it wasn't true, but this is the reality we live in.

You can mitigate this risk by running your own online services. You don't need to be rich or techy to do it nowadays:

Incredible (but predictable) : #Microsoft has blocked the International Criminal Court's access (#ICC) to its services on the orders of the #Trump mafia. Read that carefully : an international organisation that has no presence in the United States and no US legal rights has had its work tools blocked simply because it disagrees with the Trump administration. 🚩 Get the hell out of it right now. › https://apnews.com/article/icc-trump-sanctions-karim-khan-court-a4b4c02751ab84c09718b1b95cbd5db3 #Facism #Autocraty #Criminal #BigTech

@homegrown well, to run email service you have to be quite techy and more... Unless there's something I don't know
@karmalakas @homegrown I self host a ton of stuff but draw the line at email. I know I’m not alone in that. Still, using your own domain with a paid service is a better place to be than depending on big tech because you can always point your domain to a new service if necessary.
