oh the irony
@dawnnafus ahh the irony it burns! The AR goggles do nothing!
Edit: damn Apple AI autocarrot should be shot
@dawnnafus @touaregtweet can we go back to the time where inanimate objects talking to you was reason for mild concern

@dawnnafus I guess it's just the masses being dragged by apple and microsoft, yet.

I still open libreoffice to work without a single ad popup, no fashion just work

@dawnnafus it has long felt like the big publishers (Elsevier and Springer) are at odds with the people who actually produce the research they publish, so this feels totally unsurprising.
@dawnnafus everybody wants to be my enemy
@dawnnafus the ourobouros - the snake eating it's own tail.
@dawnnafus
Not a fan of AI but this is really just a symptom of a broken system. I've learned more on my own than in school or uni.
@dushman @dawnnafus there are people who write things and/or contribute to things that benefit humanity

and then there are publishers, who are always a detrimental parasite

@dawnnafus to be frank, the threat to academic integrity is not the tools, but the way scientists are evaluated by institutions and funding agencies.

If scientists weren't forced into publishing every minute discovery as an Earth-shattering world-changing project just to stay employed, maybe that would significantly decrease the use of "bullshit-generators" like ChatGPT in academia.
