Plz cross fingers the api is right and they like me because the place is perfect and I just want to have a home again,
Not me hitting f5 at 11pm
It’s up to three there is no way now, lol..
No word back. Full day of wild and weird inspections. I hope something not dire pops up as approved tomorrow
I wrote an extremely polite follow up email. 11 inspections Saturday. One today, Friday seems to not be a big inspection day.
@hacks4pancakes Oh! Does "inspections" mean someone went to see the place (not just looked at the page) and are poss competition for you? I thought somehow the landlords were inspecting you and I couldn't make it make sense. 😹
@calicoday you have to physically look at the place in person to be considered. That’s the number of people who did so, and then the number of people who followed up with an application.
@hacks4pancakes In a highly competitive market, they don’t tell you and technically it’s prob illegal to rent auction, but if you offer a bit above the asking price you might get given the rental… or so I hear… I’ve never but I’ve been lucky in my rentals.
@gordondraper It’s illegal in Vic. I can and do offer prepaying tho
@hacks4pancakes I think I only ever looked at places on weekends. I know mid week inspections are a thing as I had some when selling. But there wasn’t a lot of people coming to those comparatively.
@Cyber_Unicorn That’s why I’m hoping I have a shot at those
@hacks4pancakes Yeah Saturday is the big inspection day. Go mid-week if you can because that’s when they first appear on the market.
@jpm I hope it saves me taking whole days off to inspect on weekdays.
@hacks4pancakes @jpm It eats into fancy breakfast time, though.
@hacks4pancakes hopefully, but real estate agents here are lazy as shit for rentals. They all just want to sell
@sortius I want to give them my money 😥😢
@hacks4pancakes hehehe, one would think that's enough. Alas, it is not
@sortius @hacks4pancakes can’t say that has been my experience. Every rental real estate I’ve had to deal with got back to me quickly. Maybe that’s just Sydney.
@hacks4pancakes
But you've booked your PAX tickets for October, right?
(Just trying to take your mind off real estate for a few minutes)
@hacks4pancakes that was my first shock when coming to Australia, you may have the money, but in the end the landlord has to like your application. It took me 4 weeks to get a decent place approved. Hope you have better luck

@g1n @hacks4pancakes

It can take longer than 4 weeks. Especially now with very low vacancy rates.

I'm not trying to sound pessimistic, just realistic.

Or you could be really lucky and your first application is successful.

@g1n @hacks4pancakes this matches my experience. It’s often taken a couple of weeks to even hear back before being offered a place.
@SomeGen @g1n in ten days I’m back on a couch so I’ll have to just keep seeing absolutely everything
Eyes, fingers, and a subset of toes crossed for you.
