The model of privatisation of health preferred by the private sector is unlikely to be the full spectrum preferred by ideologues but rather the current (highly profitable) model of cherry picking off the standardised, non-critical, low risk (established) procedures which can butters 'super-profits' - and a key example of that model is outsourced NHS eye care.

This is not the future, this draining of money form the NHS into private profits is already here!

@ChrisMayLA6 been through a private healthcare alongside defunded-public healthcare model.

Privates go crazy after low risk, high profit procedures. Say simple lap surgeries, cosmetics, c sections, regular "full body" checkups, etc.

The moment a case gets too complex and requires an Multi-specialty support? Refer off to the nearest Public Hospital.

Accident and Trauma, late cancers wont even be allowed in the lobby.

Nothing new, been done in other countries, now coming to the UK.

Hmmm Ouroboros springs to mind.

No mention of the fact that a fair few private patients end up in the NHS when there's no aftercare or, more usually, the private sector effs it up.

I wonder how many of these outsourced conveyor-belt ops result in bed blocking by the victims OF the system who could not be treated on the NHS because of lack of capacity...

No ICUs or MTCs in the private sector.

Then consider the "medical profession" refuses to take responsibility for its bigoted myopic view which knows SFA about most of the population, or children...

This was happening already under #alanmilburn more than twenty years - scandalous mark ups for the private sector were identified and publicised as early as 2004 - including by one #donaldroy !
