@loke @notjustbikes I have no clue!
This seems like amsterdam, but it could be any other larger city
It's Rotterdam :)

parkeren op zijn Rotterdams... I lived in R'dam for 9 years, car drivers there are a bit crazy, compared to other parts of Randstad...
it's of course not allowed, surely police should be there any minute. And the owner might have to pay a fine proportional to their income (at least for certain kinds of "hightway code" breaking). In R'dam the fine for illegal parking is €150, I gather.
Few more such violations and the car might get confiscated, as presenting danger to the public.

I still remember: "Zonder Hummer is het leven maar een bummer" (without Hummer the life just sucks)

Some cities have experimented with giving transport drivers the ability to issue citations, but the possibility of an encounter with an aggressive owner means you pretty much have to leave that to trained law enforcement.
@bzdev @pieist @dimpase @cessie @stux @loke @notjustbikes Trams are basically single car trains. Very strong, rigid underframe and steel bumpers. The one on the photo is, I think, a 4-axle Schindler from the 1950s and weighs over 12 tons empty.
On the other side of the ring we have a large RAM pickup truck, weight about 2.5 tons, made of air, plastic, and sheet metal.
Just let the kleine Schindler and physics do their work.

The license plates are Dutch. The tram is number 10, and it's a "rondrit", a tour of the city.
Based on a Google search, I'm confident that this is Rotterdam.
First of all who is "we", are you speaking for all Europeans, Mr. President?
Secondly, most US cars are compatible in size, only very large US trucks are indeed too big for European city roads.
@stux @tantramar even in places that need #4x4 #pickup|s they want smol ones because they only have smol roads in both cities and villages and in between.
@tantramar @stux Hear hear. I'm getting pretty [numerous expletives deleted] tired of seeing single^1 white dudes driving their obviously compensating F-150 in the heart of Montreal.
[^1]: Meaning one person in the car, not, you know, unmarried.
This also happens in the US. We have vehicles to big for our own parking spots in ways that block the right of way.
This image is not about US Vehicles, it’s about US Selfishness.
@FrozenPeach it also provides an interesting case study in policy failure. Large vehicles may not be classified the same way as smaller ones. Throughout much of the 2000s so far, car manufacturers built SUVs to avoid fuel efficiency requirements.
We've also failed to deal with car brain for the most part, so we still allow personal vehicles of just about any size in most of our cities. Smh. But that's another related topic
I remember the PT Cruiser being classified as a truck for energy req reasons. Ugly thing.
Two sets of standard sizes exist. Manufacturers choose which one to build then they’re using every millimeter of the space. Then the drivers of those behemoths don’t care that they need to take the time to park correctly or they don’t fit.
With that said urban areas have smaller standard space sizes closer to EU sizing so there’s no hope at all for those drivers if they even wanted to be compassionate… which they don’t.
Driving a car that size basically says it all, and sends *the same message* regardless of if you’re US or EU.
@stux Do they get a fine for not fully parking in the spot?
P.S.: we shouldn't need them in Canada as well…
@EdwinG Yup, this is not allowed
But it's all the time it takes before the tram can move on pffff
