Greta #Thunberg was due to be on humanitarian aid ship attacked by suspected #Israeli drones while it was in international waters.
“I was part of the group who was supposed to board that boat today to continue the voyage towards Gaza, which is one of many attempts to open up a humanitarian corridor and to do our part to keep trying to break #Israel’s illegal siege on #Gaza,”
I see Turkey has condemned this attack on an unarmed ship in international waters…nothing from any other governments.
“We condemn in the strongest terms this attack on a civilian ship,” it said, noting that there were “allegations that the ship was targeted by Israeli drones”.
What will be the UK’s response?
‘In comments to Times of Malta #Thunberg said the incident was "yet another crystal clear example of how international law and human rights are being completely disrespected".
Thunberg added that "too many people are being deliberately starved in #Gaza by #Israel", and it is everyone's responsibility to do everything in their power to try to stop that.
‘A spokeswoman for the NGO, Caoimhe Butterly, said the attack took place as the ship was preparing for activists to board from another vessel.
A transfer at sea had been planned rather than the ship going to harbour, for bureaucratic reasons, she said.’
The timing of this attack suggests the perpetrators had precise knowledge of the NGO operation.
Assuming the radio silence from governments around the world right now is because they are currently assessing whether they dare condemn #Israel for carrying out a planned assassination attempt on renowned climate activist Greta #Thunberg.
This was an attack on an unarmed civilian ship in international waters attempting to provide aid to #Gaza.
Still much anger online about the attack on the Freedom Flotilla, a civilian unarmed ship attacked by drones while headed towards #Gaza, that Greta #Thunberg was in the process of boarding when the attack took place…but no official condemnation.#Israel has refused to comment and so the mainstream media goes silent and moves on.
Also appears there is now evidence of an #Israeli military plane flying low and close to #Malta’s airspace at the time of the attack:
"What happened is very serious. Israel appears to have flown an unauthorised military aircraft over Malta, an EU state and in breach of our neutrality. This is very serious," said one military source, who spoke on condition of anonymity.
‘The Freedom Flotilla Coalition (FFC) is warning of a potential second attack on its civilian ship, the Conscience, which remains stranded in international waters off the coast of #Malta. Earlier, the ship was struck twice by a drone causing a fire and a breach in the hull. Water continues to enter the vessel, and the Maltese Coast Guard is refusing it safe entry.’

I’ve seen #Israeli reports this evening that are pushing the line that the #FreedomFlotilla was affiliated with Hamas and they claim that Malta, Greece and Turkey have threatened to seize it if it attempts to dock.
It’s intriguing however, that so far I cannot see any other country’s press putting out these stories.
Times of #Malta is giving the most detailed coverage of the #FreedomFlotilla, the ship aiming to provide humanitarian aid to #Gaza that was hit yesterday in international waters by a drone strike as Greta #Thunberg was due to board.
‘Times of #Malta is informed that the government is barring the vessel because it is carrying no flag and has no insurance - even if the right of passage of humanitarian assistance is guaranteed by the Geneva conventions.
Palau - the flag bearer of the vessel - removed the #Conscience from its vessel register just a day before the incident.’
That timing is critical…how did the perpetrators of the drone strike know it had just had its flag removed and that #Thunberg was about to board?
At the same time #Malta seems to be walking a tight rope between helping the crew on board the ship and not being seen to allow it to dock:
‘In a statement on Saturday, the government insisted that every offer of assistance has been refused by the activists.’
“#Malta is offering to send a marine surveyor on board to assess the reported damage sustained by the vessel, and according to the relevant findings, to assist in any emergency repairs necessary to enable the vessel to sail to its intended destination.
The vessel’s captain has refused to allow the surveyor to board the vessel."
However:

It seems that relations between Israel and Palau are coincidentally tight:

It’s been a very illuminating couple of days…those that have followed and boosted must be aware by now there is strong circumstantial evidence to link #Israel to the drone bombing of an unarmed civilian ship carrying humanitarian aid to #Gaza which was due to pick up Greta #Thunberg at the time it was hit.
She attempted to join it at sea 17km off
#Malta as the day before #Palau (who we now know to be Israel’s best buddy at UN) suddenly deregistered it.
But who will call this out?

I'm not a lawyer but I'm sure attacking an unarmed ship is illegal by international law & I'm sure that attacking in International Waters is also Illegal.
So I suggest if any member of the serving Israeli government or any member of the Israeli Defence Force, ever steps foot in any of the 125 countries of the world who belong to the ICC they need to be arrested instantly!
This is true for US politicians who have helped Israel commit the Genocide.
The narrative I have seen in Israeli news is that the Freedom Flotilla was registered to Palau and this is also stated on Wikipedia:
But Israeli news is claiming at an unspecified time before the attack, that nation removed the right for the ship to sail under its flag…implying illegality on Freedom Flotilla.
Bombing an unarmed ship in international waters still seems unquestionably the real crime here, regardless of where or whether that ship was registered.
But how will it play out in the mainstream media, if at all?
Ya I don't know if it will even be a blip in the media.
And Fox news will make up some lie like it was carrying weapons for Hamas or some other BS
