As I was doing site-scouting for a future event in Skopje (thank you Culture Moves grant!), I also got a glimpse of the city's architecture in general.

There was a major earthquake in 1963, which destroyed a great deal of the buildings, which means that 60's and 70's flavour is prominent in the cityscape (even some newer buildings, I think). Also, brutalism. None of which is used for luring tourists, which I wonder.

A Skopje speciality were the abandoned malls. Here's one with a concentration of wedding dress shops and... nothing.

@mkivinen I remember being there a few years ago and feeling puzzled seeing the emptiness of that mall.

@pedro Indeed! And still, it seems most of these almost-empty malls have some boutiques left, usually of a high-end side. Like there's a super creepy hallway and next to it a shiny diamond store.
