When living in #Skopje I have had to change my ordinary life planning function as a parent. One major difference compared to Sweden: Birthday party invitations - in Sweden people send out notices way ahead of time. In Skopje? If you get it 2 days ahead of the party you are lucky. Often the invite comes one day ahead of the party. #LifeAsAnExpat #ExpatLife

Even though the hallways of #Skopje railway station are a tad murky, the platform area is quite airy, with a view to the city.

Another architectural and atmospherical point of interest in #Skopje is its Railway station. Yes, there is one. Tucked on top of the coach station. Not too many trains, though, nor too many people. I did spot one clerk and two passengers, asking me directions to the coach station.

@pedro Indeed! And still, it seems most of these almost-empty malls have some boutiques left, usually of a high-end side. Like there's a super creepy hallway and next to it a shiny diamond store.

The museum of contemporary art of Skopje is amazing!

Not that there was anything to complain about the present exhibition, but I could imagine the museum as a site of a major exhibition of some big shot media artist or something, audience flocking there in masses. Which, unfortunately, was not the case in present.

As I was doing site-scouting for a future event in Skopje (thank you Culture Moves grant!), I also got a glimpse of the city's architecture in general.

There was a major earthquake in 1963, which destroyed a great deal of the buildings, which means that 60's and 70's flavour is prominent in the cityscape (even some newer buildings, I think). Also, brutalism. None of which is used for luring tourists, which I wonder.
