@Natasha_Jay don’t lose sight of the statutory instrument approved by the Scottish Parliament a few years ago which was banned by Westminster. It might be a good model on which to base your protest and Scotland would be very pleased to have it back!

Let's get £150k to the Good Law Project before the weekend is out.

We are not a racist state, the Supreme Court ruling must be overturned

@StingrayBadger
Thank you! Just going to keep boosting it until then (and tomorrow) and I suspect they'll need a lot more
@Natasha_Jay In a just world, the UK Parliament/US Congress would pass a law protecting trans rights, but we all know that is not the time period in which we live.

@Fat_Farang @Natasha_Jay

Elected politicians are motivated by what they think the electorate cares about.

In a system where party spending is largely unconstrained (hopefully Musk is providing the current government with an incentive to fix this: it’s never been a priority because the two parties that stand a chance can usually outspend everyone else and like it that way), they are motivated by the issues that let them raise money.

I didn’t donate because I expect the Good Law Project to change things (though I hope they will), I donated to send a clear message to the Labour Party that there is money available for candidates who actively support human rights.

@david_chisnall @Fat_Farang @Natasha_Jay The Good Law Party for the win, Jolyon Maugham in number ten.

@Natasha_Jay can you please add a "donate" / "fundraiser" tag and maybe a "transphobia" tag to this?

As is, this post shows up on any "trans" tag list showing transphobia and asking for money, but cannot be filtered on either topic.

Thanks

This post just reminded me of this pic I found on Mastodon;
