I spent a chunk of my weekend 3D printing the small etching press released by the Open Press Project, to give to one of my kids who is studying traditional intaglio printing (and who has access to much more serious presses at school.)

This is pretty much just their STLs printed in black PLA on my Snapmaker A350, except for the Rochat-style wheel, which replaces a much plainer handle in the original files and comes from a remix. The pressure is adjustable, and in theory can handle both relief and intaglio printing.

I took it for a test run tonight to make sure it worked. I've never done intaglio, but have done linocut years and years ago, so I quickly carved up a block into something that's up my kid's alley (they are fond of Photoshopping hats onto some of my bird photos.) Block was a bit messy, but I got a few prints I was pleased enough with.
