Tried out the solar filter that came with the SeeStar today. Decent enough, but what it really makes me want to do is finally buy a solar filter for my long lens.
M51 (the "Whirlpool Galaxy") and its companion NGC 5195/M51B. Roughly 75 minutes of data out of 90 minutes of capture time, from my light-polluted back yard last night, using a SeeStar S30 Pro and processed in SiRIL (which I am still a n00b at using).
Here's one of my odd hobbies.
When I buy a used book that has the prior owner's name in it, and there are enough breadcrumbs, I exercise my research chops and put together a mini-bio of that owner to leave in the book for perpetuity.

As always, solid show by Charlie Hunter and the current incarnation of his trio tonight at City Winery. Only 6 strings this time, but no shortage of groove. I think this is his first performance in my neck of the woods since… the previous decade? That can't be right.
Damn good seats, too.
Dad would have been 80 today, so as usual it's his playlist on shuffle for the day.
