I've been loving watching the changing light on these buildings as the suns position changes from day to day. It can make for some very dramatic light, perfect for #MonochromeMonday images!

Sunrise and sunset are getting further apart and starting to rise and set further north too, greatly changing the angle and times that these buildings get hit with direct light.

My app is glitched and won't let me add alt text today :( apologies.
@geoff_eg On desktop at least you can edit a post and change it now. Not sure how the apps work in that regard.
@michaelrussell normally I can edit. But something funky is going on. The edit button is hidden behind my keyboard :/ force closing the app didn't help either.
@geoff_eg An update bug perhaps? Which app is it?
@michaelrussell the official Mastodon app. But, I'm more convinced it's my phone and not the app. I've had similar UI issues with the keyboard and other apps before. Will have to restart my phone later... Add the alt then probably.
@geoff_eg Maybe it requires 3g. ;)
@michaelrussell ugh 😩 still annoyed. About that... Picking a new phone to get is not something I'm enjoying..

@geoff_eg I guess the new sim card option wasn't a solution then. :(

At least you didn't just buy this thing - if I recall it was quite a few years old? I'm not looking forward to replacing mine. Not that it will be a hassle, but it just seems expensive for what I use it for. Mine came out in 2016.

I did notice my 3g data plan is being discontinued though.

@michaelrussell ya sim card isn't the issue. Turns out my phone actually doesn't have a 5G antenna. It's from the first batch of #OnePlus8T models. And, while there was a hack around to force the 4g VOLTE a few years ago, it got patched and the workaround no longer exists... And so I am SOL.

Waiting for a sale, but the Google Pixel 9a is the likely winner as I can put #GrapheneOS on it then. If not the 9a, then it'll be the Samsung s24 or MotoG 2025... But id love to keep it sub $600CAD.

@geoff_eg I bought my first phone for $75 and my second for $450. I thought this next one was at about $700 but I see now its 899 - think it jumped a bunch in the past few weeks. :( I much prefer a price point around $5-600 myself.
@michaelrussell I think the prices did jump 😩 to my misfortune. But. I got a few months to hang on still.
@geoff_eg Maybe the prices will ease in the meantime!
@michaelrussell @geoff_eg With those tariffs, I'd expect things in the US to really jump, though I think I read that now electronics would be except? It is so hard to keep track.
@CStamp @michaelrussell I'm in Canada though - in theory, shouldn't affect me as we don't have a tariff against China/Taiwan etc.
@geoff_eg In theory! :) This stuff changes so quickly I don't pay close attention to the details anymore.
