Fimmvörðuháls is the name of an area in southern Iceland crossed by one of the country’s most beloved hiking trails. The landscape is incredibly varied and spectacular, featuring stunning waterfalls, volcanic landscapes, snowfields, valleys and mountain ridges.

Radek Dabrowski and his life partner Lorna Hoefler Steffen love to travel. They travel by plane, car, bus and on foot to and through various travel destinations around the world. Chile, Bolivia, United States, Iceland, Italy, Thailand are some examples of the countries they have visited. After several years of photographing on the road with a smartphone, Radek bought a digital system camera in 2021. His first. A different tool, heavier and bigger, with higher image quality. But his working method has remained the same: photographs for his conceptual art projects and impressions of the locations he visits. From the photos, which were taken with the new camera, Radek has chosen to produce them as high quality photo prints. I have read a statement
that “a whole civilization
will die tonight,
never to be brought back again,”
and as I read that statement
and as I reread that statement
I cannot shake the feeling
that the civilization
from which that statement comes
is one that is already dead.
