So, mini painters, I just realized that while I REALLY enjoy painting minis 1 at a time I find painting multiples at a time, even 3 or 4 in steps 1 color at a time a REAL slog?
Thoughts?

Agree with all these comments because sometimes batch painting just makes sense, or is imperative to the type you're painting.
I think that I will just always find it less enjoyable and have to suffer through it.
Thanks for all the comments.
@HipsterDM it’s less either-or, it’s more there’s a limit. I can handle five figures at a time, but that’s my limit.

@HipsterDM From my experience, I usually tend to batch paint because most of my projects are kill-team or underworlds warbands and many of them are still unfinished because after 3 or 4 sessions without seeing progress I quit and start another one hoping to find another perfect project to work with.

For the last months I’ve learned that it is more satisfying to work on just a miniature, you see the progress sooner and that motivates a lot.

@HipsterDM
Depends a little - sometimes I just want to focus on one or maybe two characters other times batch painting 5-10 models in a unit (especially if they've repeats) gets them done and allows me to pick out a few differences.
@HipsterDM I use to not mind batch painting, but recently I just can't get the motivation to keep painting a whole batch at a good level.
For characters, I do one at a time, for larger units I try to do in smaller batches (3~5). More than 10 is really painful.
Often when batch painting I'll leave mistakes, and the quality/effort will not be as high as what I paint individually.
@HipsterDM I can paint 3-5 at a time but prefer one at a time. Big batch painting is so tedious it kills some joy for me. Sometimes, though, I only have energy for base coating and I'll do a bunch. Then I can work on details on a few at a time

@HipsterDM I find I run into a limit like @vt102, though my threshold is 2-3. I tend to feel like I'm wasting paint when I focus a single model, so I tend to batch by color.

In doing that I may be feeding into a pattern where I don't finish things, though I think that's been more a question of overcoming perfectionism. Result is very similar to what @NineInchPaints mentioned: jumping to other projects leaving warbands and kill teams unfinished.
