No fins yet, but the shape of the Mercedes 230S Universal wagon is emerging. #WeirdCarMastodon #164scale
Doing Euro-spec headlights would have been way, waaay easier, but I'm committed to the sealed-beam bit, dangnabbit! #WeirdCarMastodon #164scale
I know seeing faces in cars is pretty common, but I always see one specific face in the Mercedes W111—Scrooge McDuck's! Just me? #WeirdCarMastodon

I expect I might make a bit of progress on this guy over the next few days as I recover from surgery and have to take it easy. The fins are in, just need to resolve the outer rear corners to complete the overall body shape, then it's onto detailing.

Without windows, this thing looks (to me) amusingly like a ca.-1957 Ford sedan delivery with a Mercedes face grafted on! #WeirdCarMastodon #164scale

Rear end of the 1:64-scale M-B Universal is done. Windows and doors will help it finally stop looking like a sedan delivery.

Okay, we have a complete outer body shell! Ready to start giving it some volume. Whitewall tires and classic Mercedes wheel covers go a long way to polishing up the look, too. #WeirdCarMastodon #164scale
I kept things fairly simple in terms of how the pieces of this model will go together, so the body and base are both more or less complete now. I don't know for sure yet what printing this model will look like, but on the assumption I'll give Nü-Shapeways a go, I've slightly beefed up my thicknesses, as I was starting to see more fragility from their prints toward the end. #WeirdCarMastodon #164scale #3Dprinting
Seats are done. Need to add the dash and steering wheel, some structural bits, door panel detailing (molded on the inside of the body piece), and stitch it all together. I'm pretty sure I already have a steering wheel I can reuse, from the interior I printed for my custom Hot Wheels 280SEL a couple of years ago. #WeirdCarMastodon #164scale #3Dprinting
All done! At some point I'll lay it out for printing and see how that goes with the reanimated corpse of Shapeways. #WeirdCarMastodon #164scale
