ebay now:
> ebay "helps" you list your items with "AI" descriptions
> user reports fraudulent listings as being fraudulent when the descriptions or titles are blatant lies
> ebay uses "AI" to decide if fraud is taking place, closes your reports without delisting or further human intervention
> there's no way to follow-up on that report or police the "AI", there's no one to hold accountable
@[email protected] wow i fell back to ebay a lot but it's so enshittified now i'm not even sure it's worth the trouble

seemingly half of new items are just dropshipped from amazon

sponsored listings are like 2/3 the search results

and now this AI bullshit
@jiub my policy with ebay is to only buy items with non-generic photos. preferably second-hand so you know it's likely actually coming from where it says it is.
@[email protected] yeah that's a good idea. ironically, crappy low res photos of the item on someone's floor are a good sign now

i also started searching seller reviews for "amazon". though i wouldn't be surprised if ebay started to scrub these reviews because i've seen some pretty suspect listings where no reviews mention that

@wyatt @jiub Most of my purchases on eBay are vintage preschool toys. Are those relatively safe from the problems you describe (Amazon fulfillment and LLM-written descriptions)?

#eBay #ToyCollecting #Weebles

@PinoBatch @jiub i'd assume so, but who knows. Outside of my area of expertise :\
@jiub and yeah fuck sponsored listings, i click on those only after exhausting all other options
@wyatt the only people that like "#AI", "#DeFi" and #Shitcoins like #Bitcoin and #Ethereum are #fraudsters, #cybercriminals and antisocial rentseekers!
