So apparently, #Ubuntu 24.04 no longer supports installing to an encrypted disk. It's just not an option in the installer. You have to install an earlier version and upgrade, or do some convoluted remount dance to sneak it in.

This is Ubuntu LTS. How can they claim it's business-ready and secure when they *remove* basic security configuration?

Apparently it's something to do with the new installer framework, but I don't care. This is embarrassing.

@Crell weird: I installed Xubuntu 24.04 and chose to encrypt the entire disk.
Not sure why the flagship distro hasn't this option anymore

@Crell pretty certain you can. I'm running 24.04 and have an encrypted drive. It is a work requirement for me

@sephster I ended up installing 22.04 and upgrading, which appears to be the standard workaround.

The issue is the new installer framework they're using isn't done yet. Why they're using it, therefore, I have NFI. But it's embarrassing.
