Lidl is experimenting with closing the conveyor belt checkouts and forcing everyone to use the self-service terminals.
Fine if you're buying a snack for lunch, but if you're there for your twice-monthly bulk shopping with an overloaded shopping trolley you can forget about that, inefficient, error-prone and not enough space.
It still can't handle buying a carton full of anything. Will leave the full shopping cart standing there next time and walk out buying nothing in protest. Customer feedback.
Not to mention a lot of old folk struggling to even do it at all, then the exit gate not letting them leave.
No wonder I see most of them shop at Iki instead where there's a friendly cashier that chats about the weather while scanning your items for you.
