BLACKVOID ⚫️@lukasrotermund Depends what you want to backup and how much you want to administer the backup platform, as well as your budget. #Synology has very nice turn key options with solutions for almost any endpoint needed. There are always pros/cons to both options.
@blackvoid Various things. But I think mainly backups for my Linux distros and smartphones.
The budget is somewhere between 300 and 400 Euros. So the usual Synology entry-level models. But I can also imagine doing a simple NAS setup myself using free software. But I don't know any best practices for that.

Stephan Paternotte@lukasrotermund I'm going through the same process as you: investigating nas options. I'm currently leaning towards buying a #ugreen #dxp2800 nas device, replacing its #ugos OS with #openmediavault and running #NextCloud in docker. It's a steep learning curve and a lot to take in.
