Has anyone with ADHD experienced this?

I've been taking 40mg of Strattera a day and my head is clear, I'm able to just do things. But yesterday and today I took 50mg and it's like my ADHD got 10x worse. I can't make myself do anything. I'm the polar opposite of how I've been on 40mg. I used to take 100mg a day but it made me have zero impulse control.

Has anyone else had this issue where the higher your dose the worse your ADHD gets?

On bupropion. Was at 300 xl until I got genetic testing and had it reduced to 150 xl. Much better functionally and no side effects.

@AutisticInnovator @adhd You didn't do a titration process to work out the best dost for you?

Did the doctor just prescribe you a high dose without ramping you up?

I have had large doses of mine and I had the same effects that therapeutic doses have for NT people; stimulation, euphoria, confidence, arousal etc.

@beaumains He prescribed me 100mg a day (50mg 2x daily) which I took for a while, but started taking it once a day instead of twice because it made me lose all impulse control. I leveled out when I took 50mg a day. I had a 90 day supply of 40mg pills from last year so I've been taking that and done well. I can't afford what he prescribed me. I found a bottle of my 50mg dose 2 days ago, so took that and it's all gotten a lot worse when I was doing so well on the 40mg.

@AutisticInnovator thats terrible, you should be able to afford your medication. Maybe you could do the dilution trick, I dont know how well it works with Strattera though.

Here I've only heard of people being given a prescription for the maximum dose and then slowly ramping up using the dilution trick until they find the correct dose for them, then they get a prescription for their maintenance dose.

@beaumains 100mg is the highest it goes for Strattera. I tried going without it for a day to see if I actually need it and my brain could barely process a thought. 50mg feels like it's too much. So I will probably tell a new psych to just prescribe me 40mg once a day. It's more affordable anyways. I think $20 a month cash pay. 100mg is 4 pills a day and $45 a month.

@AutisticInnovator it sucks that you get charged more though, like if you did need to be on the higher dose you would have to ration.

I'm on the maximum legal dose of dex and it still only costs me $31AUD a month. Hearing US pharma execs complain about how the aussie PBS impacted their profits ignited a white hot, patriotic rage in me.

@beaumains The ACA gave health insurance companies free reign to do and charge whatever they want. Our FDA serves pharmaceutical companies, so these corporations get away with whatever they want. I cash pay everything because it's way cheaper than insurance premiums + copays.
