"Practical Engineering" is a great channel to watch if you do not understand the subject material

GRADY HILLHOUSE: And the situation was even *worse* for the post-tensioned anchorages in the beams.

ME: Oh man… things are not looking good for the post-tensioned anchorages in the beams

@mcc I ended up on that part of YouTube but the algorithm very quickly discovered my fear of aviation and now I am regularly recommended detailed mini documentaries about airplane crashes (Pilot Debrief, etc.)
@EMR The only ones of these I watch are Mentour because he is kind of… non-sensationalist? He talks frankly about issues without trying to make anyone scared.
@mcc his stuff is great. I particularly enjoyed his series on that sewage line project.

@mcc @gsuberland I want to see him do more construction projects like that

one of my favorite series I’ve seen on youtube in a while

@mcc low-key annoyed that the latest one is about the danger of beach holes, killing a whopping three-ish people in the US per year, "more than sharks" (because sharks hardly ever kill anyone)

though it was still very good and i learned a lot about how soil deforms

@ChateauErin Oh he's really good at explaining soil dynamics
@mcc I see you're watching the episode about the bridge in Rhode Island...
@mcc I love how wholesomely super into the explanations he gets
@mcc I like his water engineering videos, he loves building models of dams and channels etc and using coloured water etc to show erosion, silt buildup etc.
