Dockers Cruise Past Eagles | AFANA

The Fremantle Dockers cruised over the West Coast Eagles to record their first win of the year. In was a game of seventeenth versus eighteenth with both teams desperate to get a win on the board. Sadly for Eagles fans, the Eagles had no answer for the run and pressure around the ball applied by the Dockers. The Dockers won the game in the scrimmages where they got numbers to the contest and then were clean with their skills once the ball was free. The Dockers won the clearances forty to twenty-five, led by Caleb Serong (ten clearances) and Andrew Brayshaw (six). Bailey J. Williams battled hard in the ruck for West Coast, but he was beaten on the day by the Dockers' Luke Jackson who grew in strength as the game progressed. West Coast started the game moving the ball well and seemed up to the challenge. However, early dominance on the wing by Nathan O'Driscoll put early pressure on the Eagles. O'Driscoll booted the first goal in less than thirty-five seconds and his run and long kicking troubled the Eagles in the first half of the match. Tyler Brockman and Matt Owies booted opportunistic goals to give the Eagles the lead at the ten-minute mark of the first quarter; and Liam Ryan worked some magic on the run with another opportunistic goal to have the Eagles up again after the Docker's Michael Johnson leveled the scores with a goal on the run. That was basically it for the Eagles. Docker first-gamer Isaiah Dudley booted two goals and Jy Amiss rounded off the quarter with mark (catch) and goal.
