Oops, I spoke to soon. I'll take a break in a minute:

#BREAKING:

Senate leaders struck a deal on Friday to pave the way for passage of the House GOP’s 7-mo. stopgap spending bill & avoid a shutdown. 1/...

2/ "Under the deal, Democrats agreed to speed up consideration of the bill to allow a vote on Friday in exchange for votes on four amendments — but not Democrats’ preferred four-week funding alternative. Without an accord, it would have taken days to get the stopgap bill through the Senate and a shutdown would have started just after midnight on Saturday" https://www.politico.com/news/2025/03/14/senate-moves-ahead-on-shutdown-votes-00231437

3/ The 10 Dem YES’s:

Catherine Cortez Masto
Dick Durbin
John Fetterman
Kirsten Gillibrand
Maggie Hassan
Angus King (I)
Gary Peters
Chuck Schumer
Brian Schatz
Jeanne Shaheen

@GottaLaff Well, I am SURPRISED at Schatz, Hassan, and Shaheen!

I don't know why...but I am!

@GottaLaff Disappointed, but not surprised by Hassan and Shaheen from New Hampshire here. I get that this state is evenly Purple, but if they tried to message *at all* to Granite Staters, they'd probably be less concerned about the GOP making them take the fall they're going to make them take anyway.

@GottaLaff

Gillibrand is famous for goading her peers in Congress: “Help people, or go the f@ck home.”

Today we might ask: “Help them do what, Senator?”

@GottaLaff Peters was saying he was a no on cloture and no on the CR, then this happens.
And he is retiring. Make this make sense.
@GottaLaff @mastodonmigration Both Senators from New York. It's a dark day. They're not reading the room, to put it mildly.

@gleick @GottaLaff @mastodonmigration

They're reading the Wall St room, which is the only room they care about.

@gleick @GottaLaff @mastodonmigration

What they are telling us is that we are not their room.

They are performing for someone(s), and it is not the people they represent.

@gleick @GottaLaff @mastodonmigration I am finished with contributing to Democrat politicians as long as Chuck Schumer is their leader.
@gleick @GottaLaff @mastodonmigration
Hmmm... Gladiator comes to mine. Something about losing the mob?
@gleick None of the 10 read the room. I'm sickened. @mastodonmigration
@GottaLaff One of my reps voted yes. I was disappointed but I understood his rationale, not saying I agree though.
@GottaLaff I envy their optimism that everything will be so much better when we wake up again in seven months. I’m no psychic but the vibes feel really bad to me!
@GottaLaff To know that Kirsten Gillibrand is on the list, is terribly disheartening... That's a damn shame, considering I reside in New York...
@rlstone4dems Ugh, yeah, she was getting a lot of blowback
@GottaLaff Despicable. I’m glad my senators aren’t list here. I wish no senators were listed here, but you know what they say about wishing… my father would say, wish in one hand and 💩 in the other and see which one gets full first.
@GottaLaff yes we need to run them out but don’t fall for assuming it was just these 10! This is classic Dem strategy to do bad shit. Designate just enough scapegoats so the rest don’t get the guillotine. And the scapegoats are probably mostly in safe positions so won’t face any real consequences. I really hope I’m wrong this time. Either way, we can’t let any Dem senator (or even house rep) off the hook. Let’s force them to remove Schumer as minority leader. And keep protesting
@GottaLaff Oh god BOTH of mine rolled over. I seriously thought better of Maggie Hassan.
@GottaLaff I gave money to several of these senators, but the DNC will NOT get a dime from me now. I will do my own research and give to individual candidates' campaigns. #WWMD (What Would Mitch Do? 👀)
@Runslowrunlong Oh, I stopped giving to the DNC years ago, only individual candidates. Your money is spent well by them, not by the DNC.
@GottaLaff I have given to both individuals and the DNC, thinking the DNC might spread the wealth.😉 But the DNC is so ineffectual in addressing the need for resistance that I'm done with them. 🫤
