I think the most fun I've had working on a game was Delores with @DavidBFox. I think it was because the game was always going to be free (as in root beer) so we didn't care and just built what we wanted using found assets from Thimbleweed Park. Delores: A Thimbleweed Park Mini-Adventure on Steam

Delores is back home and working as a photographer for the Nickel News. Thimbleweed Park hasn’t changed at all in the year she’s been away… or has it? Sample Ron Gilbert’s new adventure game engine in this free prototype that uses “found art” from the award-winning Thimbleweed Park.

@grumpygamer I actually enjoyed this mini-adventure when I played it, well done :)
@grumpygamer @DavidBFox That's the dream. I long for the day I can just make fun, free little games and not worry about commercial success or...rent. Just added it to my account, can't wait to jump in.
@grumpygamer thimbleweed park had this own really unique atmosphere.
@grumpygamer @DavidBFox I remember playing Delores during lockdown, and it felt rather good going back to the atmosphere of Thimbleweed Park.
@grumpygamer yes! So many good things about working with you on this little gem.
1. Purely for fun, so no outside pressure to make it something other than what it was
2. During the early days of the Covid lockdown so totally kept us safe inside and fully occupied
3. Loved playing with Thimbleweed Park assets and in its universe
4. Experiments with a totally new UI
5. Little did I know that this was soon to be the engine for a special super secret game, so good practice getting to know it…

@DavidBFox @grumpygamer

On a side note. Because it bears repeating: thank you for all your games! You brought so much joy to my table. :)

@grumpygamer
6. Had a lot of fun just playing with @grumpygamer on this with no expectations of any reward, so a pure passion project
And especially
7. The pure joy of presenting this surprise gift to the adventure game loving world and seeing how much it was appreciated in a tough time for all
@DavidBFox @grumpygamer It was a great little game too - loved the changes to the interface

@DavidBFox @grumpygamer when it released I suspected there was some ulterior motive behind it. The "it's for the fans" line seemed out of place due to all the engine changes. I of course had no idea it was as a test bed for RTMI though! Interesting you didn't know that's what it was for but I guess Disney NDAs and all.

Thanks for all your hard work!

@grumpygamer
Ohhhh i tried, when it came out, running it on Linux, but it wasn't working. But it seems to be officially supported, so i can give it a new try, thx for reminding me 🥰
@DavidBFox

Wohoooow, it works
It looks like you gave it an update @grumpygamer, as I said I haven't tried it since it came out. Thank you 🥰

@grumpygamer @DavidBFox

I really had great enjoyment playing it ^^ This is perfect to get back in a universe which marked me even if it's just a game, even after the ending so it's great you did it, really thanks.

@grumpygamer @DavidBFox

It was a bit weird, but I enjoyed it enough to play it through to end, and then sit through the credits. And I have the screenshot to prove it.

(It's not really a spoiler. Oh boy, is it not a spoiler. Still, let's blur it out for those who want to experience it for themselves.)

@grumpygamer @DavidBFox Nice memories of play testing Delores. That game made a lot of us smile during a crap time.
@grumpygamer @DavidBFox free (as in beer) goes to freedom. What a beautiful world we could have...
@grumpygamer @DavidBFox the snappiness and UI innovations you guys were playing with in Delores changed how I think about making adventure games. loved to see reverberations of it in Return to MI.
@grumpygamer @DavidBFox Sounds a bit like an asset flip to me.
