Fiona Bianchi@molly0xfff the value of all currency is artificial, crypto even more so. I’m beginning to wonder if all the markets are just some completely artificial shared delusion/hallucination. An Apple share pays around $0.35 dividend a quarter (I think, I held 2 until recently) so say $1.40 per year … so why is each share worth $239 dollars? You’d have to own said share for 170 years to make your money back (maybe half that based on inflation). I clearly don’t understand economics or markets but in the current climate it seems that real value rests more in real things that something artificial that a bunch of rich thugs can manipulate
Demiurg@fionasboots All value is artificial, since it's just our minds and our agreement on it, which defines the value of anything. Crypto is not backed by anything but greed and the next one to buy in, though, while currencies are backed by the labor of people in a state and their central banks. All reality is only in our minds - there is no spoon :)
