Russia invades.
That's what Russia does.

⬆️ @samsteiner

>> #Russia invades. That's what Russia does.

2016: Russia invades #US, but by 2020 it was repelled.

2024: Russia successfully invades US again, and this time it will be harder to push back.

@samsteiner Now do the U.S. 😜
Empires gotta empire.
@samsteiner Russia was asked by Assad to intervene. Russia didn’t invade Syria.
Soviet occupation of Latvia in 1940 - Wikipedia

@samsteiner I mean sure, but those first four...
@spacehobo @samsteiner
Pretty sure that they invaded Germany too.

@RegisteredHere @spacehobo @samsteiner They were invaded by Germany first, though, so fair play.

OTOH, Japan in 1945 probably counts, as they declared war on the Japanese rather than the other way around. They also invaded then-Persia (now Iran) in 1941.

@pauldrye @RegisteredHere @spacehobo @samsteiner Russia invaded Poland in 1920 and 1939, those are facts
@RegisteredHere @spacehobo @samsteiner 1953, but from within and “only” Eastern Germany. The “communist” party of that time didn’t see any other chance to fight peacefully demonstrating workers and farmers but to call the Soviets for help.

@samsteiner

Russia's entire identity is built on imperial expansion. It has no other sense of self as a nation.

The genocides against indigenous Siberians, Circassians and many others are largely forgotten, but were integral to the power through wealth plundering of the Czars.

@samsteiner “Russia invades Chechnya” is like saying “America invades Connecticut”
@samsteiner Syria wasn't invaded by Russia, Assad asked for military help
@samsteiner to be fair it was the former USSR that did the earlier invasions. But same plan, just a different dictator

@samsteiner

You forgot about all the invasions from before 1900.

@samsteiner “Finland” they were heavly bitten, and they might occupied 1/5 of Ukraine territory but they lost part of territory in Kursk … that’s the information that are lost in translation;)

@samsteiner I don’t mean to engage in whataboutism but…..

I shudder to think of how long the list for the US or the UK would be.

To pare down a US invasion list to this size, we’d have to go out of our way to *pretend* that, for the past century plus, the US weren’t methodically installing puppet leaders all around the world (Iraq, Afghanistan, Nicaragua, Panama, Venezuela, and on and on) to rob 3rd-world countries of resources & strategically quash populist/socialist movements.

@samsteiner good thing USA has never invaded anyone. (They invaded Russia)
@samsteiner that list is missing " russia invades whitehouse : 2016-2020, 2024-? "
@samsteiner
2014 - Russia invades Ukraine
2022 - Russia invades Ukraine again
@samsteiner 1992 Moldova and 1992-93 Georgia forgotten.
