Back on our home territory! Yesterday we got a few inches of snow on top of the few inches that fell while we were on vacation. It was just enough to float the Hok skis on the trails around UMore Park.

Not enough for the groomer to be out, even to try to set a base, but just enough to keep us from dragging over most of the sticks and rocks!

Temps in the 20s F, so didn't have to bundle up quite as warm as last week, but the snow was still cold enough to not be sticky!

Near the end of our trip, we spotted a lone coyote crossing the trail through the woods ahead, and then respotted it watching us from a rise on the right. It seemed interested in our huskies and certainly had a lot to say!

Zeena was also very interested in the coyote, but wasn't sure what to say other than her usual, "I want to go play with that dog" whine.

Back out in open fields, Zeena kept looking back towards the woods that we'd just been through. Eventually we spotted a lone coyote, probably the same one, descend an open field on the left, then up and over the hill on the right, where the camera picks up here.

@Paws2Trail The huskies and coyotes seem to speak a similar language.

@khusky They do! They're actually quite similar in size and build.

I bet Zeena would have loved to be let off leash to go say hi, but I'm not sure what the coyote would have thought about that.

@Paws2Trail She was so interested in it. I didn't realise they would be similar sizes, thanks for the info.
@khusky Our huskies are a good reference for reading wild canine tracks in the snow! If they're about the same size and gait, they're probably coyotes. Smaller and closer placed prints are likely foxes (which we also saw prints of today), and bigger, wider-spaced prints are wolves. (Wolves aren't local, but we definitely had them up north where we were vacationing!)
@Paws2Trail I like that, it's a great way to read the trail 👏 We don't get anything as exciting as your canine trail.
